Builth Wells is a very small market town in the Brecon Beacons and there isn''t much there a few pubs a few shops, although the views across the hills and valleys on a clear day are breath taking, its located only about 15 miles north of Brecon and about 10 miles south of Llandridnodd the town has a very strong rugby team for it''s size and is often there or there about in the annual Breconshire cup every year, it also has two football teams that compete in the local leagues, but to be honest like most places in Wales itts a rugby community, There are a few nice places to eat and there are a few nice pubs for a quiet drink saying that it can get pretty rowdy on a Saturday night to be honest not much really goes on there apart from one week a year when the town holds the royal Welsh Show, in fact the town spends about half the year preparing for this week, and for this one week in July the small town becomes the busiest place in Wales there are a few places to stay around the town during this week but these get booked up months in advance, so most people camp or drive up for the day. Although the roads both ways are pretty awful and you can bet on getting caught in a huge traffic jam at some stage. But apart from that the town holds the festival very successfully and does a really good job in opening up its town and offering warm hospitality to the thousands upon thousands of people who visit the show in the week. Once the show week is over Builth goes back to being a quieter small market town with nothing much really going on until next year where the show starts all over again.
