Bridgnorth is a small rural town in Shropshire. It has a good leisure centre with a swimming pool, gym, and a variety of classes including Yoga and aerobics.
Bridgnorth also houses a funicular railway that links the high and low towns, which is the steepest and only inland railway of its type in the country. It is still working today and is a fun activity to do with children. I havennt been on it since I was a child but it was scary at the time!!
Leisure activities include a small theatre and a tiny 1930s cinema with only three screens. It is like stepping back in time (apart from the modern day prices!!)
On a Saturday there is a market with stall holders selling things such as foods, drinks, household products and clothing.
There are plenty of pubs in Bridgnorth including The Crown which stays open later and a Wetherspoons for cheap drinks.
There are also a lot of cafes including the Cinnamon caff, a vegetarian caff with a lovely terrace looking over the town which does a range of delicious vegan/vegetarian meals. They often hold poetry evenings and live music nights.
There are also quite a lot of Indian and Chinese restaurants too, many of which do takeaway.
There are a fair few little shops in Bridgnorth. Jewellery shops, candle shops, clothes boutiques, old fashioned sweet shops. Not really many of your usual high street shops. There are some lovely home shops, a bit pricey but full of really nice ideas for your home.
Also a nice place to go for a country walk. Low town is right next the river and there is a pub with a nice beer garden called the Bassa Villa.

in shropshire is split into 2 really low town and high town which are joined together not only by road but also by a very steep railway that links the high and low towns and for a small price you can still ride on it to this day It is the only inland railway of its type in the whole cuntrry and i think the steepest too !lol{please see pic}Bridgnorth in 1992 twinned with the bavarian in germany that had already twinned with Thiers a few years earlier. In 2003 bridgnorth also became a fairtrade town.In low town there is also the Severn valley Railway which runs southwards which many stops on the wall all the way to kidderminster and back again if you wish. This railway had been badly damaged in some floods a few years ago but is now up and running and makes a lovely day out for the family and also has differnt things on at the station in the summer and winter a huge atraction with familys is the father christmas ride on the seven vally.Other notable buildings in the town are the seventeenth century town hall which you cant miss as it is right in the center of the town, a half-timbered building, and a surviving town gate the Northgate which houses the Museum. Daniels mill which is a water mill which still works and makes flour is situated a short distance along from Bridgnorth. There is a theatre, the Theatre on the steeps, and a 1930s cinema (still in use) originally having one screen, but now three. There is a museum, the Northgate Museum with many artifacts connected from within the Town and surrounding area. The town has a number of bars and restaurants and, beyond these, there are 27 pubs ......yes 27 !!! a huge hit at the weekend with people wanting to do pub cralls etc, most of which are traditional.

Bridgnorth is a small, beautiful town popular with tourists because of its quaintness and friendly atmosphere. For tourists it is surely delightful there is a gorgeous town park where a fair can be found at times, and an old ruined castle to visit that leans more than the Leaning Tower of Piza! In the Town Park there are swings and childrenns climbing frames, and a smaller version of this can be found at the Crown Park next to the Youth Centre, which runs some activities for children and young people in the area. There are cobbled roads and pubs and restaurants by the River Severn, and an old Town Hall in the High Street, which is a beautiful landmark. Not only this, but between High Town and Low Town there is a Cliff Railway that runs people up and down for much less than a pound, every few minutes, with lovely views! Despite all of this, many young people who live in Bridgnorth find it boring, as there are not many things to do here, other than visit the little cinema. Also, the High Street is full of charity shops and opticians, and could do with a little more variety although there is a lovely bakers called Catherinees Bakery, and some mainstream shops such as Tescoos and Woolworthhs, as well as a very nice library. There are also many Drama groups in Bridgnorth including the Theatre on the Steps, which puts on some very good shows, and is also well known to be haunted the guy from Most Haunted recently spent the night there with locals! There are many ghosts in Bridgnorth, actually, for those feeling bravee!

I personally love Bridgnorth. It is a lovely town with a beautiful river running through. There is a nice little park for children within a spacious picnic area next to the river. Bridgnorth is a very respectable town, although the one-way system is a bit of a nightmare at times. There are no big shops here, however you can find typical little souvenir shops etc dotted around and it''''s nice to walk about and window shop in the nice weather. There are some nice restaurants and pubs which serve very nice food at reasonable prices and it also has the Crown Pub which is a lively place come the weekend, which attracts young 20 somethings out for a party. There is rarely any trouble in Bridgnorth and it is kept clean and tidy. Bridgnorth is separated into High Town and Low Town, so if your car doesn''t have much ''go'', perhaps it might be a good idea to stay in Low Town and picnic by the river! There is an occasional funfair in Low Town in the Summer too, which is nice for the kids. This is just a short walk aways from the parking and picnic area, where in the summer you will always find an ice cream van! Yum.
