This is a lovely seaside town which does have Butlin's there which has somewhat spoit it as it has a big white tent which can be seen from afar as with butlin's you do tend to get alot of stag and hen do's. Minehead has a few good small shops and lots of nice little tea shops and cafe's. Minehead has two supermarkets it has a co-op in the centre and then a tesco out of the centre. Minehead also has the west somerset railway which is famous for it's steam and diesel engine's which is well worth a visit. Minehead as a few selection of pubs, it also has some nice garden's (Blenium)and in the peak season they have bands playing, in the garden's they also have a putting green and and garden cafe. The beach is very nice and very big, they also have a nice harbour and a pub there.

I have been to Minehead a number of times and i have found it to be a beautiful and peacefull little town.
Minehead is located near somerset down in the south west.
It is a lovely typical seaside town with a lovely seafront. Along the seafront you can find lots of different shops, inlcuding alot of gift shops, arcades, little cafes and lts of little shops and restaurants. It isnt a lively town as you normally find with british seaside resorts. It is very Peaceful.
If you like beautiful scenry then this is the place for you to come.
It has a lovely sandy beach which spreads along the whole of minehead. Although the beach is lovely i wouldnt recommend the sea as i find it tends to be a bit dirty everytime i have been.
If you are looking for entertainment head up to butlins at minehead with lots of accomadation and lots of entertainment and things to do.
Definatly a great place for a short family break with the younger kids.

Minehead is a beautiful small town which really is your typical seaside resort. The sands strech as far as the eye can see the sea is clean (if cold) and children and granny''s alike can be found paddling .
Apart from the beach Minehead also boast a lovely steam railway which is part of the west somerset Railway they have lots of specials throughout the year such as the murder mystery nights and the santa specials .
Mine head also boasts a lovely harbour where you can see all manor of small ships and of course there is the unforgetable Waverly (the last remaining sea worthy paddle ship in the world) which will take you around the coast and you can nip into Barry in wales !!!!!!!!
And minehead wouldn''t be Minehead if I didnt mention BUTLINS this butlins in my opinion is the best one of the lot . The accoadation is wonderful the staff are wonderful and it is so much fun for the kids .You can buy a day pass so that you can go and enjoy the resort for the day .Go on the merry go round or on any of the othe rides that are here .Watch the acts in the skyline .This resort also holds concerts which are fantastic .
The people of Minehead are really friendly and will tell you where to go if you are lost .
The town is not much to write about but it does have most of the store that you would expect in a town this size (Boots , Burtons and New Look to name but three )

Beautiful little town near taunton. Its main feature of course is Butlins resort. Having worked at Butlins i spent quite some time in Minehead. The beach is lovely and sucj a nice walk for a summers evening. Even without Butlins there are still plenty of amenities for all age ranges. Seaside attractions for children, tea shops for the older generation and plenty of pubs and bars and a club for the younger generation. Nice selection of resturants and supermarkets also.
Even if you plan to just go and visit Butlins i would certainly recommend take a day out of the resort and look around the local town and get a feel for the local history.
Schools are also in the area there are around 6 or more schools for all age ranges.
Places of worship to go to for all religons and libary and other such facilites. Even the hospital is good looking

minehead is an absolutely gorgeous little seaside town ont he outskirts of exmoor. there is such beautiful scenery in minehead and a huge seafront with beautiful beaches. the town or minehead has loads of little unique shops with not very many high street shops but if you live in the city as i do then this beautiful little seaside town is a breath of fresh air. there are many many B+B''s, hotels and holiday camps so accomidation to suit everyone, there is also a butlins in minehead which has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, many outdoor fairground rides, lazer tag, a cinema, many places to eat and places to buy little souvenirs and also an arcade. minehead is best suited to families and older people as there is only one nightclub and no highstreet shops etc so if you want a holiday with lots of clubbing etc then minehead probably isnt the place for you but if you enjoy beautiful scenery and quaint little shops then you will enjoy minehead no matter what your age. surfing is also very popular in the area. although i said that minehead is suited to families, young children and teenagers may get bored if they are more into action packed fun holidays however i visited minehead many times as a child and i absolutely adored it and still do.

Minehead is full of things to do. There is a working steam train railway, in minehead, which you can catch up to Dunster and back if you wish! There is a main high street of shops, with sides of shops and there also branches coming off this main road with smaller, less well known shops. The beach is really nice and you can walk round to Dunster beach and chalets, if you have the time. There is a great butlins in the area that will keep the kids busy for hours. All in all, a nice place to visit for all the family!

Minehead is on the north coast of Devon and so the scenery is a lot more rugged than it is on the South. It is a place for a good traditional sea side holiday and caters for families or the older holiday maker as within the town itself there is only one nightclub and a couple of pubs so not much nightlife. The beaches were not originally sandy, it was shipped in by the Butllins holiday camp to make artificial beaches. The sand is not as golden as it is in south Devon or Cornwall, but at least there are beaches now!
However, Minehead is mostly known for the Butlins Holiday Camp. It is a very successful camp, offering midweek cheap breaks for the family and also specialized weekends for the more party people. They have good evening entertainment, especially if you like the X factor final 10 as they appear on the circuit sooner or later. The last time we went we saw 4 of the previous years top 10!
Minehead town is geared towards tourism though there are not many chain stores here, mostly little privately owned shops which is nice to see. My absolute favourite shop is Merlins Shop which sells really quirky and beautiful silver jewellery. Even if you arennt buying, you will enjoy seeing all the creative stuff they make. There are also some very old churches that are worth a look.
National rail does not run into Minehead, you have to change at Taunton and catch the bus, but the West Somerset Steam railway runs all year round and is run by enthusiasts and volenteers.

Minehead is your typical beach town in Somerset. It has nice beaches with sand that was brought in by Butlins I believe, though the sea is a bit brown which is not very appealing. There are beach shops situated all round, selling sticks of rock, ice cream, fudge. I do recommend the ice cream as it is very good all around Somerset. There is quite a large hill there which may be difficult to get up if you are an older person so that may be something you want to keep in mind. When I was there, I did not see any chain stores which was a nice change. There are a lot of surf orientated shops as well, seeing as it is a beach town. Its main attraction is probably Butlins, which has fair ground rides and a swimming pool inside. There a few pubs I noticed when I was there, and your usual variety of arcades and fish and chip shops. There is also a traditional steam railway which has a station right next to the coast. The park there was also very nice, with a little putting green and a bandstand. This is a great place for a family to come and visit.

Minehead is a typical British Seaside town, perfect for a short break. It is situated right on the coast. It has a beautiful beach, made of artificial sand that was shipped in a few years ago. This sand gives it a European feel. The beach is very popular with kite flyers because of the sea breeze. Minehead has all of the traditional British Seaside shops, including fish and chip shops, sweet shops- selling sticks of rock and other traditional sweets and shops selling beach accessories. There is a lovely park in the centre of Minehead called Blenheim Gardens. This has a putting green and a quaint little cafe as well as public lavatories. There is a traditional Bandstand within the park which holds a variety of concerts and performances.
Every year Minehead enters the Britain in Bloom Flower competition and has won on many occasions. There is also a farmers market every Friday which sells a variety of local produce.
If you go up North Hill then you can find spectacular views over Minehead and the surrounding area.
There is a wonderful theatre in Minehead called the Regal. It is an old theatre which has kept many of its historic features. There are a wide variety of performances both from local amateur dramatics companies and guest companies.
Minehead has a wide mix of people and is a good British holiday destination.

MInehead is a beautiful little town situated on the edge of exmoor. It has some of the most beautiful scenery. The town itself is full of local little shops with only a few mainstream high street brands. It has only in the last few years opened a mcdonalds and that is on the outskirts of town. It does have a butlins which is why most people have heard of it. However although the town relies on the tourist for income the actually holiday camp is situated at the end of the seafront away from the town centre. Minehead has a lot of history behind and some beautiful local churches. Arthur C Clarke was born in the town and the childrens presenter Steven Mulhern grew up there. There isnt much for the 18 - 25 age group as there is only one night club which is located within a pub and although popular with the locals the novelty soon wears off. There are a lot of other pubs in minehead and some of them offer good live music as well as quizes and cheap drinks. Around minehead there are several places worth visiting, for children there is tropiquaria which is a sort of tropical animal sanctury with playpark. There is also the west somerset steam railway which is open all year round.
