one of my friends lives in taunton now and i've been down to visit her a couple of times. it's situated well, just off the m5 which is very useful for travelling back and forth. the town itself is quite pretty, but a little outdated.

the nightlife is mediocre at best, it has to be said, with a wetherspoons and a lloyds bar making up most of the entertainment.

the housing prices are fairly steady, and there is a variety of places to eat and drink, and the high street has a good selection of shops. with a lick of paint and a few art sculptures taunton could come out of the 80s and really give bristol and places a run for their money.

Had been to Taunton in Somerset on vacation last year and had a very relaxing and good time.
A visit to Taunton, the county town, will provide you and your family with a genuine and special Somerset experience. You''ll be hard pressed to find a more convenient, safe and welcoming destination anywhere in the South West with such a fantastic mix of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Our traditional English market town has an extensive shopping mix that makes a great day out for visitors and residents. Bringing life, business and pleasure to all who encounter its charm and hospitality. It is sandwiched between the two sea-side including Margate and Ramsgate. Broadstairs has such a brilliant beach because it is full of golden sand but the water is never cold though you may find a few swimmers most through summer. It s a typical english sea side town. There are some great places to eat Like all sea-side loads of fish and chips and ice-cream shops and also a lovely trinklet shop . During the height of summer though (specially the vacation time) it can be overcrowded and awfull there are some nice hotels at reasonable prices for people traveling from nearby if they want to stary over and relax for a day or two too. It is very ideal for the traditional family holiday.
Local people are very friendly and find something nice to chat about tooooften weddings are held in the beach front too..
With its population of 88,241 most of which is mixeddalso the home of the England Cricket captain Treshkothic.

Boasts of having a nice country cricket ground , hosts the famous Taunton flower show and the annual Country Carnival and is also very near the Clarks Village Outlets.
Lovely shops here tooo its just nice to walk about in the evenings and not all of the beach is covered by high tide eitherr
Like most parts of Somerset, Taunton Town Centre''s attractions nestle in little pockets off the main roads, offering architecture, history, art and sport..
The only drawback is finding parking places which are only few during the peak seasonss.all in all a very lovely place to spend a nice relaxing holiday.

Although Taunton isnnt exactly the most hip and happening place, I do enjoy going there for a day out shopping.

There are some really beautiful; open parks, one with a river that runs the entire way throughout.

There is a big hospital there, which takes admissions from all over the county.

There is a big train station offer very frequent services to the whole of the south-west as well as services to the north. The bus station also has good links to surrounding towns and villages.

The town has everything you would expect to find in a town.. mainly a lot of large chain shops however if you look in the side streets and alleys you can find some really nice, independently owned clothing and jewellery shops.

There are a few nice pubs including two Wetherspoons pubs ((The Perkin Warbeckk and The Coal Orchardd.

The town centre itself can become very congested during the day and especially during rush hour periods so it can be best to try and avoid it.

There is also an industrial estate just off the M5, which has some large supermarkets as well as few restaurants and takeaways and a cinema and bowling alley.

The rest of the town is made up mainly by housing estates.

I wouldnnt say the nightlife was great but it is good compared to the smaller towns around Taunton.

I would definitely recommend coming to Taunton to have a look around, especially when they have the foreign street markets on.

There is also a beautiful castle and the county cricket ground which can be a good day out.

Taunton, a bustling little town on the banks of the river Tone. Historic and beautiful,. PLenty of history behind some not so nice storys from the past.
There is plenty to go and see even if a small town. Places to eat are few and far between but the beautiful views of the church and castle take the edge of your hunger. anice tourist toen and great for a nice day out. Tauntons Museam is worth a look also. PLenty of places to go shopping also.
All in all Taunton is a lovely little place not realy for a weeks break but for a gentle trip out on your travels maybe a nice hotel over night as you can soon tire of whats going on.

Taunton is a beautiful town, and has a lot of shops in it. Although it is the county town of Somerset, it is actually fairly small. There is also a river running through the town which makes it a pleasant place to walk through. The park is also beautiful, with a lot of green and some scenic water fountains. There is a main road right in the middle of the town which I found quite bothersome as it was difficult to get to the other side of the road as it was always busy. There are a lot of places to eat, though most of the places I saw were fast food shops. I also saw some night clubs in the town, but did not get to go in them though they did look good. Parking is also good, considering that most people seem to drive in as it is surrounded by villages which are quite far away. The train station also provides good links to the surrounding area, as well as a direct line to London Paddington. Overall I would definitely recommend going to visit Taunton as it is a scenic town with plenty of things to keep you occupied.

Taunton is the county town of Somerset, and whilst not the biggest town in the district still has plenty to do. The main historic attractions in the town is the Castle and County museum, the museum has toys and archelogical items dating back centuries. However if history isnt your thing then you can relax in vivary park which is a huge expanse of land containing not only gardens but also the chance to go putting, play golf or even tennis. That combined with the local wildlife makes it an enjoyable experience. Just outside of Taunton, you have the cinema and bowling alley, all within an easy bus ride from the town centre. That aside Taunton also plays host to the historic Brewhouse theatre which combines modern production with historic stories for an unforgettable experience. If its just a days shopping you need then Taunton has all kinds of shops from high street brands to many local shops tucked away in its winding streets. The taunton train station is also well connected with cheap tickets to exeter and bristol, main cities in this area only a short ride away. Minehead is also a short drive away, as is exmoor which is always worth a visit.
