Wells is a relatively tranquil town in Somerset that is looked over by its impressive cathedral. Having been privileged enough to sing there, I can say that it is a beautiful piece of history and a great place to go for a bit of quiet reflection.
However, Wells isn''t only a cathedral. The town is equally beautiful and is surrounded by lovely landscapes. There is a nice variety of shops and it is just a great place to stroll around. Wells makes a very good and lasting first impression especially when one imagines the history behind the town. It is a great place to get an insight into British history and Wells itself has over 800 years of it. There is a great sense of community which is apparent as one walks the streets of Wells and there are many events held throughout the year that embrace the history and culture of the city.

Wells is the smallest city i have ever been to. It was very small that you would double check the listings. However it has got the obligitary cathedral which is massive. I didn''t go in when i visited Wells because i thought the admission fees were a bit too expensive. I managed to look through the main door and it did look extroudinary. The houses are still all old fashioned, and much of the city is very much untouched and still holds a world f history. I found there were lots of banks available in Wells, with there being a small high street with shops bars and private cafes for the locals of the city. It is an easily accessible place with good parkign facilities and bus service from what i saw.

I was told Wells was England''s smallest city - and this gets it off on a good note already - i can''t actually believe a city can be that small.. seems very somerset to manage that! It''s a really lovely place and It''s really nice walking down the pedestrianised cobbled streets. It could maybe benefit from losing a few of the chain shops but it doesn''t harm the atmosphere too much. The castle is worth a look, especially on a nice day. There are some really nice restaurants to eat at. Definately one of somersets better days out. You can get an idea by watching hot fuzz, although that gives it maybe a slightly gloomy look.

The setting for the film "Hot Fuzz", Wells boasts a beautiful cathedral and some really great surrounding countryside. Despite being very small, Wells has a delightful amount of shopping areas and some really nice housing. I''ve been to Wells many a time for various things, including my cousins recital and I''ve always been impressed by it. Wells surely must be a delightful place to live in. I''d give Wells 8 out of 10 being a destination in the UK as it great, but there are certain aspects that could be better.

I visited Wells when my brother went on a week long cello course at the school and was struck by how villagy this city is but also how convenient it is. It has everything you''''d need from a small supermarket to a Starbucks! It has a cinema, theatre, library and other services as well as a couple of bookshops and some small independent shops. And the great thing is, it doesn''''t sacrifice it''''s rural facade with modern shop fronts but simply places the shop name on each one. The castle and cathedral are beautiful and great to wonder around for hours and the cobbled main street is like out of a period drama. There are regular markets and get togethers in the main square which is also the location of an ASK restaurant. No wonder this place was the setting for Hot Fuzz! You get the impression that everyone knows everyone! Although as you get further away from the centre, you get the usual council estate but it has a decent park and a nice atmosphere. The city is set in rural Somerset but is near enough to various tourist attractions such as Wooky Hole, Chedder Gorge and Bristol. A great place to visit, live or simply watch in the film!
