airdrie is situated in north lanarkshire it is a town. it and coatbridge are known as monklands. airdrie has its own football club called airdrie united. to get to airdrie you either go by road or you can go by rail which goes into coatbridge and then glasgow. the town is nothing special it is not somewhere i would suggest tourists visit as its just a normal town with housing etc but nothing i would say that stood out. however the locals are friendly enough. shopping is nothing special ie no big chain stores. there is a swimming pool though which is utilised by the locals. the shops provide a basis for the locals everyday essentials. the hospital is utilised by surrounding villages as well as airdrie.

Airdrie is a pretty dismal town, no that''''s not true theres nothing pretty about it so that just makes it dismal i guess. Ok, thats a little unfair-it''s a town in North Lanarkshire and boasts a few good shops but doesn''t really have any major attractions. It has all the usual ammenites you''''d expect from a town including a swimming pool and bowling club etc but nothing that would make you want to visit Airdrie for any particular reason. It''''s undergone a little rejuvenation within the last decade with some street being pedestrianised and generally making it more user friendly and many new houses have been built in and around the area. The shops are much of a muchness, there are no biggies like Marks and Spencer or Debenhams but the small local shops provide all this community needs and they are good at what they do. The local football team is Airdrie Utd and they play their home games at the Excelsior Stadium. To sum up, if you''''re visiting Airdrie already whether it be a trip to see relatives or to the local hospital (Monklands Hospital)), have a look around as there are some nice little shops and the locals are friendly-just dont make a trip especially!
