Bellshill is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, two miles north ofMotherwell. Since 1996, it has came under North lanarkshire. The town has a population of 30,000The streetscape has seen Bellshill town centre completely changed since in April 2007 and is scheduled to run for 75 weeks, now that it has been completed this has seen an end to Bellshill Cross and the Main Street has become a bit of a nightmare now that it is a one way street
Bellshill is well known for its music, especially since the mid 1980s. Bands such as Soup dragons, Bmx Bandits and Teenage fan club put Bellshill on the map .. Due to that fact Bellshill have never been short on music gigs and any of the local pubs play host to local bands
Bellshill was home to Lanark shirees maternity hospital (now knocked down and replaced by houses and flats) and although the following people were born there, not all of them have lived in Bellshill. A high number of successful footballers have been born at Bellshill Maternity hospital.
It has 4 primary schools 2 high schools and4 council nurseries and a few private ones.It also plays host to Sir Matt Busy centre which has a fantastic gym and a swiming pool as well as football courts, large rooms for private use where keep fit classses also take place a.nd many a birthday party.Advised to book well in advance
The main street has a lot of shops and pubs but have to say there not as busy as they used to be also a baby clinic and a few doctors surgery are also on the main street. Not a place for a holiday more of a wee town. The town has a lot of plans submitted at the moment for more houses and supermarkets but personally i think there is enough of both of these. This is a small town which i would stop if i was passing through but would not go out of my way to get there. The cultural centre putsw on a few shows per year and runs a great photography class which often has a display of their work on show.

Bellshill is located in north lanarkshire only about a couple of miles from motherwell. You can access it by car of the a725. It started off with a few houses with the people living in them working in the local quarry it is now relatively big with 3 railway stations. the 3 railway stations are mossend, fallside and bellcross. bellshill had a wee housing spell where it was popular to buy a house here a couple of years ago. There is a main street and a one way system on some of the roads. the shops are not too bad they have a boots, clintons, woolworths and some more shops along those lines. there is a morrisons and aldi. there are a few travel agents and a gregs which is popular at lunch time. Aldi is located in mossend. A few people in the music industry have also come from Bellshill area. There is a nursery and church and of course pubs, primary schools etc. It has a local paper called Bellshill today. This is not somewhere i would holiday unless visiting relatives its more a buisness town rather than a holiday resort but you might like to go there to see the shops (not that they are different from other places) but just for a change of scenery.
