gourock is located just outside but connected to greenock at the end of the m8 motorway. it used to be a tourist resort but now it mainly has houses. it has two ferry terminals one run by western ferries and the other caladonian mcbrae to dunoon. it started its life as a small fishing village, it participated in quarrying before its famous shipbuilding and repairing. the transport links are good with a railway if you travel from glasgow you can get on the train come to gourock and then sail to dunoon really easily by public transport. there is an OUTDOOR swimming pool in gourock that you can pay for and stay the day we went to see it i must say it did not look the most attractive although it was a bit cold that day but they say the swimming pool is heated, saying that it was empty when we were there. there are a few shops on the main street including a hair dressers, optitions a lovely bakery we got some lovely cakes its called east end bakery. along with a mini supermarket and a pricy children's clothes shop for babies and young children. there is a large park between gourock and greenock with plenty of grass and some play areas. gourock is still popular with day trippers and the views of the clyde are spectacular.
