Motherwell is a fairly large town situated about 14 miles from glasgow city centre about 14 miles. It used to be famous for the ravinscraig work which unfortunately shut down and made Mothwerwell into something of a ghost town, BUT IS SLOWLY BUILDING ITSELF BACK UP ESPECIALLY THE RAVENSCRAIG DEVELOPMENT WHICH IS GOING TO HOUSE THOUSANDS OF NEW HOUSES,A NEW SPORTS COMPLEX,CINEMA AND NEW PRIMARY SCHOOLS.
Strathclyde park is a local attraction that brings visitors from lots of different countries it has a wonderful camp site a water sports palace and the famous m and ds fayre attractions.Strathclyde park has put many events on over the years .
I have stayed in Motherwell for the last 15 years and seen a lot of changes happen over the years. The biggest been the town centre where many of the shops have been closed down.
There are 3 high schools in the area and numerous primary school. The town also plays host to Motherwell college which is moving to Craigneux infact to where ravinscraig used to be infact there are some major developments taken place in that area.and theres even talk that Motherwell football club are moving up here from their present location which is fir park.
There are lots of pubs and clubs in Motherwell also plenty of restaurants.
The town also plays host to the aquatic which consist of fun swimming pools a gym, sauna it used to have a skating rink but unfortunately that has now been removed. The pools are rarther cold and it has been said that the outside pool is warmer than the inside. The town centre also has a heritage centre which is well worth a look it shows you how motherwell used to be years and years ago.

motherwell is situated in north lanarkshire and used to be associated heavily with the steel works until ravenscraig was dismolished. It is now home to a lot of call centres and also is the head place for north lanarkshire council. There is a civic centre located close to the council buildings which hosts vaious events including patomimes. when i was younger the motherwell patomimes were the best as they had all the up to date music from the charts although i could not tell you if it was still the same. Motherwell has its own football club called guess what motherwell football club they have their home ground in motherwell called fir park, they don''t have as many followers as the likes of rangers and celtic but i enjoyed watching them playing at home it still has the excitement although a few less supporters than the bigger clubs. Motherwell has a range of shops with a large asda, jjb sports, poundshop etc but i don''t think they are the best selection they are fine for everyday visits but its not a large centre.

Motherwell has its own railway station where you can catch a train to Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and various other places however not all trains stop in motherwell so check out your route first. There are a number of primary schools and some high schools within the motherwell area. It also has a swimming pool and ice rink called the aqua tec. i don''t personally feel motherwell is an area in which you would have a holiday unless visiting relatives etc. but by all means go visit but to me its just a town.
