Needham Market is a town in Suffolk, England. It initially grew around the wool combing industry, until the onset of the plague, which swept the town from 1663 to 1665. To prevent the spread of the disease, the town was chained at either end. The busy A14 used to run through needham market but a bypass was built in the 1950s, Famous people that come from the small town needham market are June Brown from eastenders, Samual Read a artist, Joseph priestly who discovered oxygen also lived here. The A14 is easily accessable and you can easily get to the likes of Stowmarket, Ipswich, Bury st edmunds! There is little in the way of shops. No major shops, just small independant shops. There is a butchers and a sandwich shop and two co-ops. There is a small post office and a Barclays. Mid Suffolk Council is also based here. Needham Market has a football team which is in the Rideons Premierleague and got on well in the FA Vase last year. Needham Market also has a large lake which is a nice walk out but is a place to avoid at night due to "doggers". Needham Market has a few pubs but the best is the Swan. The best for a meal is the Red Lion however it has odd opening times. Needham Marker is very quiet and nothing more then a pass through road or a place to just live and get out of to do anything else.
