Esher, being just on the outskirts of London, and on the A3 is quite a nice place. It doesn''t really have much that stands out in the way of ameneties but it is a good residential area.
The biggest attraction in Esher is the Sandown racecourse. This is a beautiful course and worth popping into if the opportunity arises. The high street is okay and does have a small variety of shops. Esher is very popular as a residential area and it is easy to see why with a lot of high quality properties. The A3 also provides good commuter routes into London on top of the public transport routes and it also links Esher to other towns in South East England like Guildford and Portsmouth. Esher is also close to Hampton court and the great shopping town of Kingston.

For some reason I have never really warmed to Esher. I went to primary school there and whenever I go back now even though it is a reasonably good and a nice town, I find it quite footballers wivesy and that a lot of the people that live there are quite pretentious. However, saying this it does have excellent attractions and resources.
Firstly, it is in nearly a perfect location as it is only a 20 minute train ride away from London Waterloo and very close to both Heathrow and Gatwick.
Esher is a great place for young people as it does have a nice sense of community and a good selection of shops, restaurants and a large Odeon cinema. Restaurants include the posh Italian chain Carluccio's and Red Peppers so diners are spoilt for choice.
Sandown Race Course is a main attraction for adults to come to Esher as it is one of the most famous and prestigious race courses around. Claremont is also a gorgeous National Trust area which is perfect winter or summer if you want to get some fresh air and take in the surroundings and then finish in the coffee shop!
Excellent schools including Milbourne Lodge, Rowan and Esher College. Loads of nice housing estates as well if you can afford it including Black Hills.
