Farnham is a town in the south of England, in the county of Surrey. It is located close to Guildford, Aldershot, and Fleet (in Surrey, Hampshire and Hampshire respectively).
Farnham is easily reached from London along the A31.
Farnham is a charming and historic town, that even features in the Lonely Planet for England!
The town is small and serves a small population in the local area, people from nearby towns, and the occasional tourist (there are not many hotels in the town).
I think that the main attractions to Farnham are the fact that the streets are cobbled, the fact that there is some interesting history (which is easily accessible, for example, one of the buildings on the corner of The Borough used to be a jail, and there is a plaque on that building that details the history), and the fact that there is a castle.
The castle is located at the top of Castle Street, close to a childrens playground and to a golf course.
Farnham is situated on the River Wey, which you can walk along or sit by.
There are several schools in Farnham. However, there is not a sixth form college. There is an art school and there are talks of plans for a university.

Whilst you may be fooled into thinking that Farnham is ''full of old people'' these days you would be a long way from the truth. There is loads for the younger generations too including modern shops, pubs and restaurants. The traffic system leaves a little to be desired and the town centre has the main road running though it which means its not ideal for shopping - especially with young children or at busy times like Christmas when the pavements are crowded. A lovely town though with lots of history and well worth a visit.

Farnham is in the broough of Waverely. Its quite historical with Farnham Castle overlooking the town. It also has lot of hostoric buildings. Its a really pretty town but quite pricey to live in. There are lots of ittle boutique type shops selling furniture and trinkets. On the first saturday of the month there is a large farmers market that takes place at the Maltings selling lots of fresh produce, jams, meats and dairy products. The Maltings also holds a lot of concerts with opera live music and comedy clubs. The farnham Beer Festival is also held here. Farnham hold s carnival each year where there is a street parade. The shops are really nice mainly sell lots of jewelery but there are a few clothes shop but dont expect anything to be open on a Sunday apart from a few cafes. Farnham is a really pretty twon with cobbled street but it does get very busy and parjking can be difficult.

Farnborough is a really nice town on the outskirts of home county, Surrey. It is in the borough of Waverley and situated 42 miles from London which makes it quite far but manageable as it is also on the border of Hampshire. Closest big towns include Guildford and Aldershot as well as Winchester.
One of the main reasons Farnborough attracts visitors is for its historic interest as it contains a number of old buildings, including a number of Georgian houses. Farnham Castle is just one of these and the former Bishop's Palace is now a conference centre. It is still a gorgeous building though.
Farnham may not be the coolest place to shop in Surrey but it has everything you need really. Branches of national retailers such as Woolworths, Robert Dyas, Argos, Boots, WHSmith and Waterstones are all present in the town. Major supermarkts include Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsburies as well as 2 Tesco Expresses. Farnham was previously a market town which why there are so many independent retailers selling antiques, furnishings and high quality food items. I find this gives the town extra character. The main reason I tend to visit Farnham is for the gorgeous large market which sells arts, crafts, antiques and bric a brac which takes place under cover at the Farnham Maltins on the first Saturday of each month. It really is a lovely day out.
Wide range of places to eat including Zizzi, Pizza Express, Loch Fyne and Pizza Hut so you will never go hungry!
I love this town as it is just full of character and great for arts, crafts and antiques in particular.

Farnham is a fantastic, historic town, with beautiful architecture and friendly people. In the town centre, the cobbled Lion and Lamb Yard, lined with cafes and unusual shops selling art, crafts and clothes, and the numerous churches, pubs and the museum and library, make this a great place for a wander. Living in and around Farnham can be very expensive, but worth it - the schools in the surrounding area are fantastic and the town's close proximity to the countryside and various woodland areas make it great for families. A lovely place to live and work.
