Haslemere is a town in Surrey, one of the home counties in England, It is also very close to the border with both Hampshire and West Sussex which makes it in a good location and near major roads leading to London and Portsmouth as well as closer towns including Guildford. The main reason my family and I visit Haslemere is for the walks that it offers and the countryside as it is surrounded by it with Blackdown and Gibbet Hill which are both areas famous for its hills and walks. Both of these sites were used for executions in the past few centuries which gives the area an aspect of history. Most of the area is owned by the National Trust now which means it is being looked after well and makes it perfect for walkers.
The main streets in Haslemere contain a mix of pubs, shops, restaurants and estate agents which is nothing exciting but it does well and provides all the essentials. It is great if you are looking for more specialist and unique shops. There is a leisure centre with a swimming pool, kid's pool, jacuzzi, hot tub, sauna, steam room, fitness suite, squash, tennis courts and a skate park which makes it perfect for all ages. There is also a theatre/cinema that seats 340 and puts on many shows and attracts crowds year after year.
Another reason many visit Haslemere is because of the national rugby player Jonny Wilkinson used to live there!! Claim to fame eh?
