I was born here and agree with the previous reviewer that it was alot nicer back then, and is apparently pretty awful now. Its never been the classiest of places, but it definitely used to have heart! Its pretty chavvy now and the young locals have a bad relationship with the police, who have been known to act badly around here. Its quite easy to get into nicer parts of Surrey which is good, and the house prices are pretty low. There are some good pubs but thats about it I think, and the drink prices aren''t that cheap. I think this place would improve if it added a few more things for the young people to do.

Being the fact I lived here for the first decade of my life; I feel I should write about it!

In all honesty, Redhill was the best place to be brought up in - it was a small town, with everything needed - schools, small town centre, transport, parks and a tidy environment. It was enjoyable being able to walk everywhere as the housing complexes I lived around were not too far from the centre-point. Where I lived; everyone was so friendly and there were children all around my age and it was great to be able to go out everyday without having to worry about strangers. Because everyone knew everyone.

The town centre was from I remembered untidy - mainly because of the fact that teenagers were scattered everywhere. Not just normal teens either. Around the late 90''s, teens were all into their "townie" stages - hanging out in gangs, wearing unusual clothes and disrespecting the community.

I lived in Redhill from 1990 - 2000 and I definately noticed the town change. The people became more weary and the kids got more aggressive. Although crime happens anywhere and everywhere these days; the increase in Redhill was fast. The streets were covered in graffiti all the time and Redhill''s town centre was no longer packed with vibrant civilians. In fact, the only people in town were groups of youths and police, and maybe the odd person who just didn''t care and didn''t want their routine to be changed.
Even Redhill''s park was depressing to enter as it started to turn into a youth''s trash-house.

Sadly, Redhill was no longer the town I was brought up in.

What a dump. Deadhill, to the various witty graffiti artist residents of the town, has very little going for it. People live on the outskirts and only venture in when absolutely neccesary. It has very little to offer in terms of attractions, but you can go and do a weekly big shop, get a few clothes and generally mooch about in town. There''''s a few pubs, which aren''''t all bad, but it is a chav town, and has all the associated problems of a chav town. Loutishness, an over abundance of burberry, shell suits and ''''bling'''', the smell of stale urine and, of course, the shadow of intimidation and violence! A night out in redhill is not complete without witnessing some act of aggression or another. At least the rail and road links out are good. I got away to manchester as soon as i humanly could. I now live in Longsight, and am the happiest i''''ve ever been!

To be fair, it has had a dressing up in recent years, new business are moving in and the town centre has had trees planted. Unfortunately, the council stopped short of organising a chav cull, and so many of the same problems remain!
