I lived in Staines for a short while of my life so know a little about it.
Staines is the Spelthorne borough of Surrey it has many popular shops here and attracts alot of shoppers,All the well known shops from Matalan and superdrug, woolworths, and waitrose. As well as the well known Restaurants we all love to hate mcdonalds and pizza hut.
The staff here are friendly and helpfull and always have time for the customers who shop here.
Public Transport in staines is very good there are lots of busses running from the main shopping centre (the emsleigh centre) and just across the road is staines mainline overground station.
Just a short distance from Staines is the very popular attractions such as Legoland Windsor, Windsor Castle, and Thorpe Park.
So what ever you are looking for in this area you are sure to find it.

Staines as places go, is ok. It doesn''t rank very high in my book just because I think it is surrounded my places that are much more aligned with my preferences. Staines is Vanilla to me. It seems lost in a bad era a bit.

Having said that, it does have its'' share of decent shopping with many top named businesses. Additionally, there is a large selection of bigger business here too.

If you you work in London or some of the much more costly locations (Windsor) nearby, then Staines offers a decent value for money. Especially if you are have limited resources for deposits, Staines might be your best bet to start with. It also is a convenient location for people traveling in and out of Heathrow.

I think it is funny that Ali G chose this as his home. I''m not sure why he did it but it fit in really well. Some people within Staines aren''t happy about this but anything that brings attention (and business) to an area can''t be all bad. I''m sure there are many towns around Britian that wouldn''t mind the free publicity.

Although I''m not that hot on Staines, I do see that there are some advantages. Train services and distance to London and London Heathrow to name a few.

Many people refer to the town of Staines in Surrey as the town where Ali G originated from but it is actually far more than that and I happen to actually quite like it and think that it gets a bad name that it doesn't deserve. It is in the Spelthorne borough of Surrey and is part of the London Commuter Belt of South East England yet still remains within the postal county of Middlesex. It is located very close to the M25 which makes it great for transport links.

Staines has a compact town centre with some very good shops actually containing most familiar names such as Waterstones, Marks and Spencer, Warehouse, TK Maxx (which is absolutely massive, one of the best I have ever been in), HMV, Monsoon, Topshop and many many many others. There is a lovely market which is held on the high street every Wednesday and Saturday which gives a certain character and history to the otherwise modern town. It is one of the largest and busiest street markets in Surrey. There is also a Vue cinema which is large as well as a gym and loads of cafe's. Loads of nice restaurants as well so you will never have to go hungry.

A nice place to live in my opinion as well as to visit. It is also very close to Windsor so that makes a nice day trip if you are in the area.
