I really enjoy going to gateshead there is always plenty to do, I Love the Metro Centre! Its a really big shopping centre. With lots and lots f high street shops such as debenhams,h&m,Newlook,Topshop and llots lots more. there is also lots of cheapy shops and little botique, unique shops if your looking for things that are that extra bit different and special.
Gateshead is renound for its nightlife your guaranteed to get a good night out here, THey also focus alot on art. The locals seem to be very friendly and aprrochable if your lost. The staff in the shops are all friendly and happy to help.

I go Gateshead quite a lot mainly for the huge shopping center (metro center) It is great for shopping all the main highsteet shops under one roof ! There is loads of places to eat and coffee shops. You can easily spend a whole day there if you have plently of money to spend ! It is very easy to find from the A69 and you can also get there by train. I have also visited the Queyside a few times and is nice to walk along on a summers day there are lots of nice bars and pubs along there and is also good for a night out

i live in the north east and I think the only good thing about gateshead is the metrocentre. It is one of europes largest shopping centre and has bowling facilities, cinema, soft play areas and many dining oppurtunities. saltwell park and the team valley are also other examples of places to visit in gateshead. saltwell park is a lovely area of gardens and other attractions which are great for kids, a big play area, bird avaries and many other things to see and do however, saltwell park seems out of place as it is set amongst council estates and alot of houses. The team valley is very industrial but the main part of it is home to alot of big stores such as mothercare, homebase and boots. so the only tim ei ever go here is at chrismas to do all the chrimbo shopping at the metro centre

I rarely visit Gateshead other than to go shopping at Team Valley or the Metro Centre. Both are amazing for shopping, offering a number of high street shops and the metro also has an odeon cinema and plenty of places to eat.
A few months ago i visited the Sage for a concert. It was amazing, the building is a wonderful piece of architecture and a perfect venue for concert etc. Next to the Sage on the river side is the Baltic, which used to be a flour factory but is now amazing art gallery which has a lovely restaurant. The Quayside offers some really nice bars, pubs and restaurants, some well known names and some are family owned. There is also the legendary Tuxedo or The Boat as it used to be called, which is a nighclub on the river. It used to have quite a reputation but now isnt too bad. Gateshead is also home to the famous piece of art The Angel Of The North, a sculpture made from metal which is a landmark that over looks the A1 motorway high on the top of a hill.
Gateshead is a great place to live as you are close enough to newcastle, but dont have all the hustle and bustle of newcastle! Its great for commuters as the metro tube runs right through it. There are plenty of buses and the A1 motorway is quite near for travelling.

Gateshead has a great shopping centre called Metro Centre which has loads of restaurants and shops, and is perfect for christmas shopping especially. It is a large city on the otherside of the river from Newcastle and is a great for a day out. There is the quayside, just near the River Tyne and Gateshead is especially well known for the flat pack houses which are inspired by IKEA. The area isnt a place I would visit very often, there isnt loads to do.

there is also The angel of the north, the sage, the baltic and the millenium bridge that are quite good to visit. The quayside is quite nice but nicer on the necastle side.
Gateshead high street used to be an ok place to shop or for a day out but now seems dirty and alot of the shops have closed down. there is an indoor market but isnt very attractive. in my opinion gateshead is a place to get your purse pinched, dont know if thats a little harsh, some parts of gateshead are nice but the high street has put me off going back.
Saltwell park, team valley and the Metrocentre are very handy places for locals or to visit if you are visiting the area but gateshead doesnt really seem the place to go to on holiday.

Located in North East England Gateshead is well known for the angel of the North sculpture
some locals call this the rust bucket!! it looked so much better when locals dressed it in the newcastle united strip
Gatehead has Museums galore and as an extra bonus most of them have free admission so you really cannt go wrong.
One of Gateshead s landmarks is the well known BALTIC it is a major international centre for contemporary art on the south bank of the River Tyne, and is one of the biggest contemporary art spaces in Europe.
There is also the Discovery Musuem it is one of the North Eastts most popular free museums and the place to find out about life on Tyneside, the museum is bursting with hands-on interactives, which makes it the perfect place to learn through play. A great day for the family
Gateshead is a great great night out they have unlimited places to go including
popular area is the Quayside - it''s young, loud and in your face. Sea nightclub is always a good place to aim for at closing time, but expect to queue.
Journey to Jesmond for the Osborne Road experience. Jesmond is young, sociable, fashionable and rather less frantic than either the Quayside or Bigg Market.
If you''re after noise and excitement, then the Bigg Market should hit the spot. Those of a more mature disposition will enjoy the hand-pulled pints on offer in pubs like the Crown Posada and Free Trade or the Cumberland Arms.
There is also a gay scence in the gay village which is very popukar among everyone in town.
Close to the city centre is Leazes Park, the oldest city park in Newcastle and the perfect place to recharge your batteries after a hectic day in the city. Exhibition Park got its name from the Jubilee Exhibition of 1887 and includes a boating lake, crazy golf, a skate park and playgrounds this makes a great day out for kids and any adults too
well worth a visit you certainly wont be bored

Gateshead is a lovely upcoming area , ive been to the sage its a music centre its amazing ive been once before to watch some local bands , the lights and the views from there are just amazing. They also sell food which is great too theres a wide range and always something to suit everyone, i had a duck wrap and it was cooked really well, the staff are great here and are highly knowledged in the sage and always on hand to give you information about it. Theres also parking too , so its really accesible even though its down by the qauyside. The sage is open till different times depending what bands or shows are on.
There quayside is exquisid with great bars and hotels and luxury living apartments, its great to have a stroll down there in the early evening. Theres a great night club down there, its a boat called the tuxedo. On a fridays its 10 entry and all your drinks are free. theres various different floors on the boat and they all play different types of music on the ground floor at the bottom it has a revolving dancefloor and great booths for you to sit it, they also have a VIP area too. I never fail to have a good night out when i come here, but be aware and revolving dancefloor and alcohol do not mix very well.
They also have a little shopping area, with a few shops in like wilkinsons, greggs etc, i personally dont se any need for this as the city is only a 2 min metro ride away. Gateshead aslo has too metro stations and a big bustation wih direct links to the metrocentre which is the biggest indoor shopping centre in the north east, i lovethis place you can basically say evrything under one roof. I love a day out at the bowling alley and then like to go to chiquitos the restaurant in red mall. The metro centre is open from 9am till midnight as restaurants are open till then, inside the metrocentre there is an indoor fair called matroland, id say mainly for kids and teens it has huge swings and great dodgems. , ive been here before and loved it, you can buy day passes for here, but the prices of these vary at different times of the year.
I love gateshead its became a great place to live and visit over the years and i would definatly visit again.
