south sheelds is really close to Newcastle, the metro service is really good and very realiable. the town hall is really nice and is really worth the visit. there is a market here in South-Shields and you name it you can get it, this market is like an aladdins cave of gems the long streches of sea side are really nice, the beaches are really clean and really popular with familys and walkers alike. have a walk down Ocean Road and you will see fish and chip shops that have been there for year, passed down from generations to generations. they cook some mean fish and chips all the places to be on a night out are all situated in the center, but if you ever get board then you can allways go to Newcastle

South shields is a good day out it has a lovely long stretch of beach which seems to go on forever, children have great fun playing in the sand. There is a fun fair next to the beach which has lots of exciting rides and is not too badly priced, there are amusements, burger stands and ice cream vans there so plenty of choice for everyone. Across the road from the fun fair there is a really nice park which has a lake where you can feed the ducks, a play park and also has a train which you can pay to have a ride on and it takes you around the park. South Shields also has a few good bars and pubs so a good night out drinking could be had by all, or if you do not want to go drinking there are many nice restaurants where you can enjoy a good meal. I personally love South Shields market as you can get lots of items really cheap including DVDs, books, toys and clothes. Next to where they have the market there are lots of shops such as New look, Mothercare etc. There is also a really big Asda in South Shields which is very good for clothes.

south shields is great, we often take our 3 boys there esp when its dry!
there is a lovely clean beach the boys love to play on, there is a fantastic outdoor area with a pond full of ducks and little boats you can hire to go round in, a kiddies play area complete with a fantastic little train that goes round the whole thing, my 2 yr old things its the best thing ever lol
Then just across the road you have the fair my 6yr old fave place to be lol it has a nice selection of rides for kids and a couple for the adults too!
Lots of arcades and amusements and burger vans, candy floss and cafes available,
There is a great bowling ally there to just behind the fair,
There is some good shops particularly a good size asda with a great George section!
The nite life is good too, my hubby had his stag do here and it was a good night had by all, lots of lovely b and bs to stay in at very good prices,
Not to far to walk to get the Shields crossing to go over the river to north shields where you have wet and wild and a huge designer outlet center filled with some great shops,
We often spend the day at shields with the kids and is always a good day had by all x

South shields is a lovely place to go. Ive been many of times. Theres a nice town centre with a lots of branded shops / bars / restaurants and coffee houses. There is an amazing fancy dress shop here that hires out really cheap. Yates bar in south shields town centre is a really nice inviting place to eat here, there food is great and the customer service from the staff is great too, they are always collecting glasses and your table never fills up with them ( i hate lazy bar staff that leave the tables full of glasses ).

South shields is home to a lovely beach, i love it here the sands are golden and the smell of the sea side is amazing, around the beach there are various great fish and chip shops, i personally couldnt fault any of them, some of them also have outside seating to for you to enjoy your food outside.

Theres a great little fair there with various rides, the dodgems, waltzer and many more. You have to buy tokens for these rides and they start from 50p. I love this fair and there rollercoster ( which isnt that big ) is great really fun and exiting and theres plenty of music playing in there. Theres also various stalls ie candy floss, sweets and burger and hot dog stalls. There is some thing for everyone.
Ive been out on nights out around south shields too and its great, really cheap drinks and a great atmosphere, what more could you ask for. Ocean in south shields is my favourite night club, its on 2 floors and has a hot dog / burger shop inside. They also sell great cocktails. This night club attracts ages from the 18-30 mark and plas various dance and pop music.

I personally love south shields and for a little place has lots to offer, id would definatly revisit if i was in the area.

South shields is located about 15 minutes away from Newcastle city centre, and is accessible via the bus or the metro for as little as £3.50 (return ticket if riding on the metro). South shields has a totally different atmosphere in comparison to Newcastle. Its much more calmer and relaxed. As mentioned the most popular area of south shields is ocean road, which is home to many idian, chinese and english restaurents. There are also a selection of highstreet shops to do a bit of shopping, but id reccomend going to Newcastle if you want to do some real retail therapy. Taking a walk across the beach in the summer is rather uplifting, as are the views. There are also a selection of pubs and bars, which are really welcoming to all, i found the nighife to be very pleasent, as it makes a change from been in a busy, hectic city like that of Newcastle. Im sure ill be returning shortly.

The best part about South Shields is the beach. It stretches really far and you can also walk for miles along the cliffs great for walking dogs and bikerides. There is a pier which you can also walk along and there is always jellyfish and other small sea creatures to be found among the rocks. Along the beach there are amusements and a small theme park with a few rides. Just across the road is a park with a lake where you can hire a pedal boat or just feed the ducks and swans. There is also a small train that travels around the park as well as a brand new childrens playpark. The park is also marked with different routes for bike rides or walks. Across the road is also another park which has crazy golf in the summer.

The main road towards the beach is Ocean Road which is lined with indian take aways and fish and chip shops so there is always something to eat as well as an abundance of ice cream stalls. There is also quite a large asda located right in the centre of the town. Ocean Road also has many bed and breakfasts or you can also stay in a little chalet on the beach.

The shopping isnt fabulous, there are many high street shops however its not exactly a place you would choose to go on a shopping spree. There is a market which some days sells new items such as fabrics and some days sells second hand items and if you have a rake around you can often pick up a bargain for less than a 1.

There is a metro station in the very centre of the town and the beach is only a 10 minute walk away. The metro will take you to and from south shields, newcastle and sunderland for less than 5.

South Shields also has quite a vibrant night life with many clubs, bars and pubs in the city centre.

South Shields is where the great north run comes to an end which is worth going to see and they also have a free fireworks display at the beach on bonfire night.

South Sheilds is 3.50ounds return on the metro from Newcastle, and the metro stops right in the middle of town. The town is really quite lovely, with the main stretch of shops leading to the town hall. Beside this, on a Satuday and Monday is the market, which offers cheap items such as books, dvds and materials to name a few. Down from the market is Marks and Spencers, McDonalds, Evans, Mothercare, Woolworths and Game to name a few of the large chain stores. When you get off the metro, if you turn left you head towards the town hall/shops/market, and right towards Ocean Road and the sea side.

Ocean Road is home to many Indian, and Chinese restuarants/takeaways, as well as a lot of Fish and Chip shops! Along here is an award winning Fish and Chip shop which is really quite yum! Just look for the poster of their award in the window as you pass. A large park is opposite these food oulets, which offers miniture golf.

The sea side is lovely in the Summer, with the ice cream vans out and many people going out to enjoy the sun. About 20 mins walk along from this is a large grassy area, which if you walk up, you get an amazing view across the ocean, and in the distance see North Shelds and the lighthouse - which is one of the few that is still manually operated.

South Sheilds is really good for a day out, there is quite a bit to see. Best to go when the sun is out!
