Washington is a hidious place. There isnt anything nice about it. Washington is split into districts and it is just full of roundabouts, one after the other. On the up side there is a massive B&Q, a Macro and a good car auction house in washington, who have a fab cafe that does a remarkable breakfast. Not alot else to say about Washington ohter than the shopping centre The Galleries,, havent been for a while but last time i went it was full of youths that looked menacing.

Washington is lots of little villages and districts I have family and friends who live here and although I have been to there houses on numerous occasions I still get lost when coming down the Washington highway, I am hoping one day I may actually get to their houses without actually getting lost. The galleries is in Washington it has many of the popular shops like new look, Asda, card shops, McDonalds and Greggs etc. I would definitely recommend it on a rainy day if you need to go shopping as it is indoors or if you donnt want to go Sunderland city centre or the metro centre as they can get quite busy whereas the galleries is not too bad. The in stores which are in the galleries are great for getting cheap clothes or food but be careful in the one that sells cakes, and other food as the things they sell are sometimes out of date not great if you donnt realise till you get home. Washington Wildfowl Park is a really good place to take the children as you can buy the food and they get to feed the baby animals.

Washington new town is like no other place I know. The town is made up of little villages which have been given numbers and districts. The whole town is surrounded by greenery and roundabouts. For anyone that hasnnt lived in Washington it can be quite confusing but for those of us who live there or have lived there then it all makes perfect sense.
Washington has its own shopping centre The Galleries and a retail park is expanding over the road. There is a leisure complex to one side of the galleries which has a gym sports halls and a leisure pool which has a separate baby pool. Princess Anne Park beyond the leisure centre should you wish to have a walk away from the traffc and the bustle of the streets
Also next to the Galleries complex s a bowling alley and bingo hall I have never been in the bingo hall but the bowling s really good.
There are a few different popular areas for evening and weekend entertainment Concord s probably the cheapest option head for wetherspoons for cheap drinks and a buzzing atmosphere you wont find any music n this pub but it s always busy.
The Riverside s popular alternating between the river bar and the Havelock and there s a great pizzeria upstairs
Lastly The village the old heart of the town here you will find Washington Old hall the ancestral home of George Washington the US president what a lovely building it is the church on the hill is very pretty then there is the old smithy which these days is a very nice restaurant called the blacksmiths table.

I like Washington, to be honest there isn''''t a lot here except the roundabouts, which are alike as the last poster said!! Its mainly residential split into different ares and suburbs. When I visited Sulgrave I was taken to the working mans club which was full of cheap drinks (great hehe). The Galleries is the indoor shopping area here and hosts a good range of shops without a need to travel too far, if you want a good shopping experience then head for the Metro centre a few miles away! Attached to the Galleries is a sports centre which is big enough to host good size events. The tyne tunnel isn''''t far away which connects the north and south of tyne and wear.

Where do i start with washington. it isnt that big but i love it here, ive worked here, visited family here and even been out here.
They have there own indoor shopping area called the galleries which has lots of breanded shops in like mcdonalds, greggs and new look. They also have a lil indoor market inside here called the inshops where you can purchaes photos and cheap clothing and pet supplies its great. The galleries is open till late every night as it has a pub in called the oasis not a great pub i wouldnt go in there again , ive already wrote a review on it. . They have there own swimming pool right next to the galleries and it has a gym in too.
Washington is home to one nightclub called the ranch in concord, this is a no go area too, its full of drunks and drug heads and the music is really cheesy. The staff there always look drunk or like they have been on drugs too. The toilets are old and dingy and in need of some great refurbishment.
In concord there is a few shops too and a library and 4 pubs. Also a bus station with great links to either durham, newcastle or sunderland. There is also a late night spar too and a 24 hour garage which is great.
Wetherspoons in concord is great, my ex boyfriends mum manages it and always gives me cheap drinks ( not that they arent cheap anyway ), the food from there is fine too, they have a great curry club that everyone must try, they have a wide choice. Wetherspoons does not play music but it still does not affext the atmosphere, most people go here and get really cheap drinks before heading to the great bar down the road, this is called the tavern and its a really good night out , its open till one am on wekkends. They have a live dj on weekends and a little dancefloor and plays great music, the toilets are small but everyone manages to squeeze in them. Overall a great atmosphere and i love it here. i would definatly visit again.

If I had to describe washington in one word it would be roundabouts. There is just roundabout upon roundabout that all look exactly the same. So if you aren't from the area make sure you have your gps because it is very easy to get lost. To be honest there isnt really a huge amount to say about washington. The main shopping area is The Galleries which isnt anything to write home about but it is indoors and does have most high street stores including lots of clothing stores and the usual boots and arsos and the like so its a good place to go if its raining and you want to be inside but dont want to go somewhere as busy as the metrocentre. They are also redeveloping the area and building some big retail parks so shopping will get even better. There is also the washington wildfoul park which is a nice place to go and look at all the birds, great for a day out or school trips. There is also the north east aircraft museum which is worth a visit.
Transport isnt that great, there is no train station and attempts to get the metro line extended to washington failed so the only public transport is by bus but by car it is quite esy to get to as long as the roundabouts dont confuse you.
Washington is quite strange in that its not built like many other towns and all of the houses are built in little villages so when you drive to the touristy places it feels like no one lives there but it also means that it is surrounded by lots of trees and greenery which is nice.
