Some of my family live in whitley bay so i visit the town quite alot through out the year. I have been visiting whitley bay since i was about 5 and i have always wanted to go back. It has alot to offer it is a sea side resort but it has gone down hill abit ,as there is an abandoned dolphin pool and they used to be a fun fair called spanish city which has been moved but it still has some of the structure there which is getting worked on restoring it.
Whitley bay has its own caravan park which alot of people go on holiday and some people even buy there own caravans and live in them throughout the year. On the camp site there is a swimming pool and park and entertainment centre.
Whitley bay also has a light house called saint marys which you can walk to along the beach this gets busy in the summer as visitors ten to go on the rocks with there children and look for crabs. You can also climb the light house too there is a gift shop there where you can buy gifts from such as cups fishing nets and postcards.
Whitley bay is also popular for its night life too with all of the pubs and night clubs going down one street making it easyer to find, You will find that ther is alot of stag and hen weekends that go on here and all are fancy dress.
There is a new rebuilt park which is fun for the kids.
All the shops are next to each othereeen a shopping centre been built in the last few years which has brought more popularity to the town., It also has a ice rink and swimming baths and there is a lovley promanared along the beach which can lead you to a skate park which has also recently been built.
There are some really nice ice cream shops too which are the best because they are home made.
There is also alot of take aways but sorry they dont make parmasans and there is also alot of reastraunts too and in nearly every street you are guarenteed to find a guest house.
I would recomend whitley bay to anyone it is a lovley town and some of the people are very friendly.

Whitley Bay is another great seaside town located just out of the centre of Newcastle. Easily accessible via metro or car, Whitley Bay provides a great day out or even a small break away. In the summer months the beach is packed with tourists, students and families enjoying themselves, playing frisbee or taking advantage of the water actvities such as surfing. The promanard is full of amusement arcades, fish and chip bars and small cafes to cater for your every need and to give you a real feel for the seaside atmosphere. There is also a leisure park and ice skating rink nearby for those who want a jam packed day out. The town itself is a little bit run down but it does provide a great time out which is only a short distance from Newcastle centre.

Whitley bay is a lovely place and I used to come here regularly when I was a child so have very fond memories. There is lots to do if you are taking the family on holiday as this is the typical seaside resort. The beach is lovely and there are lots of shops on the front along with lots of cafes. The kids will love playing for hours and there is plenty to keep them entertained. There is some really good shopping here and has all the top high street shops. There are cafes and bars a plenty here and you would not be stuck for somewhere to go.
The nightlife is really good and again a good variety of pubs and clubs. Around the town itself there are plenty of hotels and guest houses and the prices are quite good. Further out of town some parts of Whitley Bay are quite run down and in need of modernisation and if this was done this would be a really good place .

Ive been to whitley bay many of times, my little girl truley loved the beach here its about a ten minuite walk from whitley bay metro station. This beach is huge and really peacefull the sand is gloden and free from glass so you can happily walk along it in bare feet. Whitley bay has a wide range of amusements with great gambling machines and also home to the famous dance machine, ive had a go a few times and i must say it works up a sweat, great to burn those calories.
On the way to the beach theres lots of shops and pubs/places to eat on the front street and they have outside chairs for you to sit and enjoy a drinka nd soak up the sun. Whitley bay is a sought after place to live with house prices rising and the rental market rising too, it has a lot of huge vicotrian style houses, all the people that i have spoke to here are really helpfull and always willing to help you out especially when it comes to giving directions around the area.
It also has its own metro station, which takes you right to newcastle city centre, this can get reall busy between 8am and 10am and 4pm and 7pm with people finishing work, so if you hate all the hastle of being squashed up on a mtreo id avoid these times.
There night life is great too with various bars, they are all in one long road and its home to a lots of stag and hen do''s , last time i went out there , there was a lot of people dressed aup and generally out to have a good time, soemthing to be said. as normally the nights always ends in fights. Drinks range from between 2 - 2.70 for a vodka and coke and these bard are open till 1am, theres also lots of hotels down by the beach too, which is great for family or people on buisness.

Here is a really lovely place to come and visit, as you can see from Nikki249''s pics. The sea front is really really nice and well maintained with no real damage at all, from the hundreds and hundres of young people that come and visit this place year in year out. The prices here are very good and you get alot for your money here. There are the usally sea side attractions here, ammusments, small rides, fun fair, fresh fish shops and fish and chip shops.
If it''s your mates wedding and theres a stag/hen night to go on then my freind i have just found the place, the locals are so used to people dressing up and makeing them selfs look silly they dont even bat much of an eyelid any more!! how good is that?! The reastaraunts here are really good and the fish dishes are all localy sorced.

The most random day out. We hoped on the train to Newcastle and after a few hours my friends and I figured we''''d go on a mission to the sea side. 3.50 on the Metro and around 30mins later we arrived at Whitley Bay. Coming out of the station Whitley Bay doesn''''t seem like much. There are many bed and breakfasts on your walk to the sea and there are many bars and pubs along the sea front to go for a drink. The sea seemed fairly clean as some people were swimming there. There are a few amusement arcades to throw your money away in but that is about it. Unfortunately, Whitly-Bay seems to be in much need of renovation. There are many abandoned buildings along the sea front and a feel of skegness without all of the visitors. I have read that 60 million is to be spent by the government to regenerate Whitley Bay so maybe if I take another random trip there it will be once again a thriving coast resort.

I use to love whitley bay as a kid, and although im know an adult, i still enjoy this well known seaside holiday destination. Like many seaside destinations there is a beach, which is great during the summer months, arcades to waste your money in, but neverthless they provide hours of fun, the smell of fish and chips in the air and sea gulls that like to irritate us all. Whitley bay is popular with surfers, and holiday makers alike, the views are amazing, especially when the sun is going down and you look out to the lighthouse. Taking a stroll along the beach is also pleasent especially during the night when not so many people are around. The nightlife was also suprisingly busy, with many people fancy dress and silly costumes, it makes the atmosphere lively, and with a variety of different music venues, visitors are spoilt for choice. There are also many restaurents and small cafes to indulge in, whether you fancy cheap burgers or a posh sophisictaed meal in a modern restaurent, Whitley bay has it all, go check it out.
