The town centre is all traditional build has some main stream shops in it but also a few inderpendent ones that make it more interesting they have a good amount of clothes and jewelry shops there you can also look around the house William Shakespeare was born in and they do have a museum dedicated to him so that''s worth a look, there''s also the William Shakespeare''s play house which is very popular in the evenings there are many little pubs where you can eat in or just have a drink, I''ve always found this town to be friendly and have always enjoyed visiting it Stratford-upon-Avon is famous for being William Shakespeare''s birth place it brings tourists to it''s town from all over the globe, I''ve visited here on many occasions in the summer it has always been busy it does have a lovely atmosphere in the summer as there is a large park across the river Avon where there are always lots of swans the scene is very picturesque in the park there''s lots of pick nickers and it''s by a butterfly farm which is wonderful to visit will definitely amuse the children the town centre often has street performers which are always of a good standard.

Stratford Upon Avon is a very beautiful town in the county of Warwickshire. It becomes extremely busy in the summer months when it becomes full of tourists and coaches everywhere. It is much better to visit in the quieter months as you will definately feel you are experiencing the real Stratford. The Royal Shakespeare company is a fantastic theatre right down by the river that attracts many famous actors to perform here. Boats can be hired on the river or you can take a river boat cruise that I would recommend as there is normally a pretty good commentary. On the opposite side of the river to the town is the Butterfly House that I always find a bit disapointing as it is quite expensive to get in and you are never more than an hour in there. If you continue through the car park after the Butterfly place alongside the river you will come to a fantastic kids play area with paddling pool and huge sandpit with water pumps etc. There are also toilets next to the park. Parking in Stratford is extremely expensive- I would recommend parking in one of the All Day small carparks that are advertised on little boards by the side of the road. I highly recommend you visit Stratford- I am sure you won''t be disapointed.

Stratford is a lovely little place to visit during the Summer months. It is a smallish town with beautifully built Tudor style houses all over it. It is very picturesque. Of course if is most famous for being the birth place of William Shakespeare. You can do the touristy thing and visit his house or the Shakespeare museum here which is quite interesting. You can also catch a play at the Swan theatre. The river Avon runs through Stratford and is a great place to go for a picnic or just relax on the river bank. YOu can go punting here if you are feeling brave! Stratford also has a butterfly farm which is a great place to go for the kids as they have lots of different species of butterfly and insects that you can see which is very educational. I went on many a school trip here as a kid and always thoroughly enjoyed it. There are lots of nice cafes and restaurants to eat in here but not a huge amount of shopping or night life. I would definately recommend Stratford for a nice day out or a relaxing weekend break though.

Possibly the prettiest town I have visited. Plenty of parking avaliable at a fair cost! And then a short walk in to the town centre which provides a good shopping area. The shops are all spread out over a few very long streets so if walking is difficult for you, you may find this hard. Obviously Stratford is famous for William Shakespeareand there are plenty of places to visit, including his birthplace, Mary Arden and Anne Hathaways Birthplace. As it is located on the river it is a lovely place to spend time in the summer and with lots of cafes and restaurants to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
It is close to the butterfly farm which is a brilliant place for children to go. I would recommend a trip on the river or if you are a motorbike fan just sit and watch the hundreds that arrive on a weekend. And for the party lovers among you this is also where Global Gathering takes place every year.
Lots of lovely Hotels avaliable and perfect for a long weekend even if you only live 30 an hour away as I do!!

Stratfor-Upon-Avon is known for a few things namely Shakespeare, punting and the motor bike festival. Stratford as can be imagined is always full of tourists keen to catch a bit of Shakespeare heritage on camera. Oddly though you dont seem to notice them unless you are outside Shakespeares birth place or similar areas of interest.
There are obviously great theatres in Straford and the RSCs main one is being rebuilt at the moment. The river Avon flows right past the stage door and it is a great place to go punting or to rent a rowing boat if you darent try a punt. There is also a really fun pulley ferry further up stream that ferries passengers (tourists) across the river for 50p a go. It is powered by a wheel and a chain that runs the length of the river bed.
There is a great butterfly green house thing by the river that houses a huge array of tropical butterflies and plants. The greenhouse they live in is huge and very humid as it needs to replicate their tropical climates.
Strafored is great for culture and a family day out but not so much for nightlife or shopping.

Stratford is a nice picturesque town notable for shakespeare. There are some nice tudor style buildings across the town and there are some nice parks especially along the river Avon which goes through Stratford. The architure of the buildings in the town is on the whole very good. The town also has from very good bars. I have visited the town a few times to visit friends living there and to see plays at the various Shakespeare theatres. The main Shakespeare theatre, the swan theatre, is a bit of an eyesore for the town as it was built in the 80s and is mainly built with concrete. However I have enjoyed the plays that I have seen while visiting here including alice in wonderland. The town can be quite busy during the summer months with a large amount of tourists coming to visit the town. An attraction worth visiting is a few houses which relate to shakespeares life, including his birthplace, owned by the Shakespeare Birthplace trust. Another thing for tourists to do is go on a tour bus around the town and see the various attractions. The traffic in the town has become increasingly bad and can be very bad at times of the year when there are many tourists around. To sum up, Stratford is definetly a nice town to come and visit and is worth come to, to see a play at one of the towns theatres

Stratford is best known for being William Shakespeare''s birthplace and for this reason it is a great tourist attraction. The Americans love it! It is a really attractive town and to get into the centre you have to cross a bridge over the Avon and that is always a lovely site especially when the swans are out in force. Stratford has a lot of old buildings that are great to look at and there are several Shakespeare museums and you can view his old house. There are a lot of the average high street shops but it isnt really that good for clothes shopping as everything is very samey. There are lots of nice old pubs and everyone is very friendly here. I would suggest going punting on the Avon and then seeing a play at the Swan theatre on the river bank.
