This is an old fashioned town very near to the Steelworks. The skyline is taken up with the view of the works, which makes the area a little ugly. The houses range but there is a lot of terraced streets. The centre of the town has a street known as Station rd, which is pedestrianised at the end and has a few bakers, clothes shops and fruit and veg shop and several charity shops. This street then leads onto the Aberafon shopping centre after passing a large Tesco''s. The centre is indoors and has lots of better-known shops like a very large Wilkinsonns, a small Argos, Clinton Cards and new look etc. You can also stop here for a coffee in the middle of the shopping centre. Also the town is known for its market, which has, several stalls ranging from food to plants to clothes with a small car boot section at the end but this is mainly on Saturdays. You can really get some bargains at the market so it is worth a visit. There is a car park just passed the market and behind station rd, but this gets very busy on the weekend. The train station is also very close to the town .Port Talbot has some nice shops mixed in with what appears to be a bit of a run down town but the people are very friendly here, so itts worth a visit.
