I'm amazed that the person who wrote the bad review doesn't think Chichester is worthy of city status because they think there's no nightlife and they could only find one row of shops! Chichester is an old Roman city and has not one but four streets bursting with beautiful buildings and some fabulous shops. People visit Chichester from far and wide because there is a broad range of typical favourite high street shops, e.g. River Island, Warehouse, Jigsaw, Russel and Bromley,LK Bennett, Oasis, New Look, H&M, Dorothy Perkins and Topshop.
There is also the individual shops and boutiques that make Chichester a real gem, we haven't quite lost the individuality that people crave just yet and boutique style shopping is what its renound for, e.g. Pushka Boutique, Strawberry, Area, Little London Boutique, D2, Stephen Lawrence mens and womenswear, Dartagnan mens and womenswear, Indigo, Harriet Hudson, Truly Gorgeous, ZigZag, Liberte, Minx, Moda en Pelle, Tiempo, Maggies, Arabella and many more.
OK so there are no nightclubs in Chichester but there are some not too far away in Bognor, Portsmouth, or Brighton. Even in London you have to drive or get a taxi to a club and the traffic would be much worse. There's a good range of bars, pubs and michelin starred restaurants to choose from and some of the trendier bars have a 1 o'clock licence, there are also a few pubs that regularly have live music.
Its convenient to get back and forth to London by train and Gatwick is also a short train ride away. The stunning sussex coastline is a short drive or cycle away now thanks to the track that leads from the canal all the way to the witterings beach. And we have some lovely walks on the downs not too far away that boast some of the best views and pub lunches on the South Coast.
As you can tell i love Chichester and moved here from London 4 years ago. I like the fact that i don't feel threatened when i'm out at night and the people of Chichester are warm and friendly. I think there's so much to see and do and its a shame if people walk round with their eyes closed.

What a lovely place Chichester is. Famous for its cathedral which is right in the town centre. The shopping area is set out in the form of a cross with a monument in the middle which is a well known meeting place in the town and central to things like the Farmers Market which are regulars in town. The shopping area is mostly pedestrianised and car parks are generally situated at the ends of the North, South, East and West streets. Plenty of shops of all types from Boots to Army & Navy. There are plenty of places to eat in town but no fast food places in the actual town centre now. Its not very child friendly in my opinion although children are welcome of course but there are no play areas in any town centre cafe''s or restaurants. Just outside the town centre you''ll find Chichester Gate which is home to the 10 screen cinema, several places to eat and drink, a bowling alley and a gym. Parking is a bit limited at busy times but this area is an asset to Chichester. Chi (as its known to locals) is on the A27 so access to Portsmouth, SOuthampton and Brighton are relatively easy (although it does get very busy at peak times and during summer weekends). Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Selsey and the Witterings are all nearby for those looking for a good beach. Chichester is definitely the more upper class local town with trendier shops, more exclusive and individual shops than your average town centre. There is also the Chichester Festival Theatre and of course Goodwood is just a few miles away - a must for racegoers - whether cars or horses and home to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival meetings every year.

As you drive into Chichester, you can see the Cathedral. There are many shops there availble including restaurants. The traffic there isn''t so bad. The Cathedral really makes the place stand out, also with the old buildings. Also there is a school right by the Cathedral and also they do alot of singing practices there. You can go to the Cathedral at xmas eve and listen to the christmas charols!

Chichester is a small city which is probably most famous for its cathedral. The town is not very big but it has a good range of shops. However it does lack in clothes shops for young men, with only Topman, H&M and River Island to choose from. It also has Chichester Gate, which contains a cinema, bowling alley and various restaurants which are good for a night out. Local by laws mean that bars have to shut around 11.30 which means there are no night clubs within the city limits. The people are generally friendly, though can seem a bit snobbish as it is a rich area. Priory Park is a beautiful place, with plenty of grass for people to play football on etc. There is rarely any trouble ad it is normally fairly quiet at night. Chichester is very laid back, which does not make it a good place for young adults who want to live life. It does have good access to some fantastic beaches and is surrounded by green. Goodwood is also near as is Fontwell which is good for racing fans. There is also good train links all the way to Portsmouth, and there are regular trains up to London Victoria. It is a very nice city, and would be good for a tourist to come and visit to see the Roman Walls and the cathedral.

Chichester is a lovely city along the south coast of england.. very close to brighton and portsmouth.. infact sandwiched inbetween the two cities! Chichester is a lovely place to go for a nice meal out.. or a drink in one of the bars! They are really original restaurants and bars. Chichester is very civilised and a pleasant place to live and shop. The main town is very nice.. very well kept and clean. There is a selection of your average high street shops.. and a new attraction to chichester is the newly open new look.. which is absolutely massive. Chichester train station is right in the centre of town.. so great access! Very good links with LONDON and the local citys.. ie. brighton and portsmouth etc. Chichester is fairly close to the seafront.. and there are lots of countryside walks ajacent to the city centre. Chichester is also well known for some great campsites.

Judging by the other peoples reviews on this place I obviously missed something massive when I went and looked at the university as it seemed like a small town not a city. There was one line of shops that I could find with all the necessities but not good for any luxury items. There didn''t seem to be any nightlife and I can imagine getting anywhere where there was some without a car would be a bit of a nightmare, however it is really pretty and safe and would be a wonderfully tranquil place to learn and make friends. However the university campus looked pretty basic and I can''t imagine being content living in this place for very long. A pretty highly ranked university, and would be a good place for someone moving from the countryside and aren''t used to cities. Also a good family visit as theres quite a bit of history behind some of the buildings which could be interesting.

Chichester is a really nice city in west sussex, there is always a lovely buzz of excitement around the whole city whether you are shopping, going to the beautiful cathedral of just hanging around listening to some top class busking. There is a lovely theatre away from the centre of the city next to the chichester rugby football club and on the other side is the tennis club. There are some really nice pubs and restautants for a good variety of different foods. There are all of the shops you need spread over different parts of the city so it is a great place to go to spend some well earned cash.

Chichester is a lovely large city. It has a theatre and lots of shops. Chichester also has a massive Cathedral and a Big Church. The whole of the town is so beautiful, that it costs a lot of money to live there! But what I like particalarly is that it is so clean and tidy and a lovely place to be at! Chichester also has lots of Bars, Restaurants, Cinemas, Houses and a great theatre. Chichester has got such a large amount of shops that are all good! The Only bad thing about chichester is that its a lot of money to live there because its a big city and its so lovely and posh. I would love to live there. There are lots of nice, fun jobs to do there and its normaly nice and quite! Thanks for reading.

Chichester is such a nice city. It's classy (some people label it as snobbish) and there is a good amount to keep you entertained, during the day at least! Admittedly, the nightlife is nothing to shout about but for wandering, shopping and sight-seeing it's lovely. There are countless tea shops and cafes and lovely little unique shops that you wouldn't find anywhere else. In terms of tourism, there's the cathedral and the Festival Theatre which both attract quite a lot of attention! It's near the coast too. I just love the atmosphere in Chi - people are friendly and you rarely, if ever, see a gang of hoodies walking down the road or hear people shouting and swearing at the top of their voices in their street. If these are the sorts of sights you're looking for, head to Portsmouth. Chav-galore.
