I love Ilkley. Especially the moors. I used to love climbing the rocks there, and you can see right out over all of Yorkshire too. An amazing view. The shops in Ilkley are lovely, but they are a tad expensive. Betty's is always a place to stop by, tea and cake. Can't beat it. There's a lot of parking, and a diect train from Leeds and Bradford. It is very well kept too. Lots of flowers and clean streets. The houses are lovely too. Quite a lot from the Victorian era. Very nice and old. All in all, Ilkley is very quaint, and posh.

Ohh i love Ilkley. I remember as a child climbing the rocks upon the ilkey moors, boy it was tough at times but once you reach the top the view is mind blowing. Ilkey has the most fantastic scenery ever, it is so peaceful and its fab to get a way from the busy city centre life. I love walking upon the moors and by the river feeding the ducks with my children, it brings back some sweet memories from when i was a child. Ilkley has a swimming pool indoor and out, believe me only go in the outdoor one when its hot as it gets freezing. There is some little shops to visit and the things are slightly over priced. I really recommend this place to anyone - families, youths, seniors etc as its a place for everyone!

Ilkley is a rather quiet town located in west yorkshire. Its only 15 minutes away from Burley in Wharfedale and a 25 minute journey, on a train, from Leeds city centre. There are plenty of shops to find the latest bargains, as well as lovely little cafe to enjoy a spot of tea and a cream cake, and many pubs to get tanked up in. As Ilkley is located in west yorkshire it is surrounded by plenty of fields and countryside, making it an ideal place to enjoy a county walk or a stroll by the river wharfe. The moors are popular, as are the cow and calf rocks, do be careful though as they are rather steep, my friend broke his arm climbing the rocks a few year ago, it looked rather nasty.

Ilkely is a lovely town which is looked down upon by Ilkely Moor, fantastic un touched moorland with feilds of heather and freely grazing sheep. The walks on the moor are really nice, but take a packed lunch as there is no cafes. The town it''s self is hilly so be awear of anyone have mobility issues. Some of the shops in Ilkley are ''posh'' and expensive. There are some nice retail shops like Dorathy Perkins and Macays. The River Whalf runs through Ilkely and there is a pebel beach. The anuall event is the duck race, where numbered ducks (plastic ones!!!...) race down the river, on lookers can buy thier lucky tickets before the race starts. The park by the river has a ence all the way around so you feel safe letting the kids go off and play on the swings and slides. There is a fish shop and pub situated in the park so why not make a day of it. The night life is not for the local youngsters really as it''s the same old same old but for the older locals and visiter to the area it is very nice. All in all a really nice day out. And you can make as expensive or as in-expensive as you wish.

A picturesque town that is located 20 minutes away from Otley, and about 40 minutes away from Leeds travelling by bus. The main surrounding of Ilkley is endless amounts of countryside. In particular Ilkley Moor is a popular choice with locals and tourists, with many rocks to plough over and under, it provides hours of entertainment and is a great source of exercise. Be careful though if you decide to go rock climbong when it is wet, as we discovered it does beocme very difficult to do. The park is also a popular place to enjoy a walk, or a picnic, especially in the summer months, which is hardly ever thanks to the dreadful english weather. The swimming pool has facilities both indoors and out making it a great place to relax in the sun, although the swimming pool outside is freezing, remember i did try to warn you! The town centre is jam packed full of different shops, pubs, and restaurents which keeps locals and tourists busy for hours, although do remember to bring a heap of cash, as so things are a little more expensive that what''d you''d expect. All in all Ilkley is a well respected town, with a good reputation, its beautiful.

Ilkley is a beautiful town located between Bradford and Leeds, in the Wharf Valley. It is a historic, picturesque town which is very popular with tourists and can get quite busy in the summer. Its perfect for a bit of retail therapy as youll find hundreds of quaint little shops dotted around the centre; watch out for the price tags though because Ilkley is famous around Yorkshire for being expensive! Ilkley also boasts a huge number of cafes, perfect for a quick coffee or a relaxing sit down after a bit of shopping.
The River Wharf runs right through the centre adding to the towns charm. It has a pleasant park for kids and lots of places to go for a walk. In the summer the River can get quite busy, but dont let that put you off because its a really nice place to sit and have a picnic or even go for a swim! (Remember to bring some sandals though, because its quite pebbly!). If swimming in the River doesnt sound like your cup of tea then you could always head over to the Lido which is very popular with young people and families. The Lido is an outdoor swimming pool with plenty of grassy areas for sunbathing and a little caf if you get a bit peckish plus there are no pebbles so you wont need any sandals! The Lido is a great place to spend a hot summers day, and it has great views out over the moors.
Go outside of the centre of Ilkley and youll find hundreds of places for walking, Ilkley is situated in the middle of some really beautiful countryside. The Ilkley Moors is a personal favourite, with hundreds of places to walk and go for a picnic. Space enthusiasts will be interested to know, that there was also an alien sighting on Ilkley Moors in the 1980s, with the witness claiming he was taken aboard a UFO! Mysterious stuff ey? Even though many people dont believe it (myself included), it adds to the charm and interest of Ilkley and the surrounding areas. But if aliens and UFOs all sound a bit much for you there is also a spa located high on the top of the Moors called the White wells spa, hundreds of people plunge into the bath here on New Years Day, and you can even get a certificate to mark the occasion! Another popular walking attraction is the Cow and Calf rocks which are great fun to climb up and perfect to start or finish a walk at. Whats more, theres a great little pub at the bottom of the rocks great for a post-walk drink!
Overall, Ilkley is a gorgeous little town with a huge amount of things to do. The people are really friendly and its a great place for a day out. Definitely worth a visit!

The most popular attraction with Ilkley is the cow and calf rocks. Its so much fun to climb all the way to the top of them, although i will admit its not as easy as it looks and does take some time, but once you mange to get to the top, the view is mind blowing. Alternatively you may choose to take a stroll near the river and feed the ducks or walk through the countryside, otherwise known as ilkley moors. There are a range of shops, cafes, supermarkets and restaurents to explore and many traditonal pubs that serve traditional ales and beers as well as delicious food. During the summer ilkley lido is the place to be, especially when it is hot. There is an indoor pool as well as an outdoor pool, with making it a great way to cool down, i wouldnt use the outdoor pool if its cold or the weather isnt that great though, as its freezing. But there is a range of seating areas outside, making it a perfect place to catch a suntan. There is also a skate park that is great for those who like to skateboard, bmx and rollerblade.

I have visited Ilkley about 3 times now since I moved to Leeds. Its easy to get to from Leeds as theres a regular bus service from town that goes out along the Otley road. Its a beautiful town with a village feel to it. One attraction is Bettys tearooms, where I had a cream tea. Its quite expensive but its a tourist attraction and you need to book as it gets very busy. There are a few high street shops, but most shops here are based around the older generation with knitting, independent book shops and antiques. Its nice to spend an afternoon browsing and although there is a busy main road running through it, its still a picturesque place to be. Theres also the moors locally and lots of walks lead from Ilkley, so you can park there and go for a walk and then have tea in Bettys when you get back. Theres also a supermarket and other food shops. The cow and calf rocks are easily reached from Ilkley and they provide a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Theres also a walk planned around them, but the rocks themselves are very imposing and fun to climb!
