I have lived in various parts of Wakefield for a few years now. There have been a lot of changes lately, such as lots of new buildings around the edges of the city and also the old market place closed and they opened up a new one. There are very mixed opinions of the new market area, my personal opinions are that the outdoor area is too small compared with the old one and also the indoor shops are too pricey and there''s a lot of wasted space and not really many shops in there that I would use but I have heard others say they much prefer the open space so I guess its each to their own! In the main shopping area there''s most of the main high street stores you would expect and quite a lot of cafe''s and banks as well. Also a fair few budget shops such as pound stores to pick up bargains in. I can usually find what I need in Wakefield but if its market shopping I want I now head into neighbouring Leeds instead. All in all its not a bad place to live and it does have the benefits of not having as much hustle and bustle as the bigger cities do. One thing that does let Wakefield down for me is the lack of convenient leisure facilities, mainly swimming pools. The nightlife has also gone downhill a bit. The once thriving Westgate area is now pretty quiet most nights, even Fridays and Saturdays are not what they used to be.

Wakefield is close to Leeds, and has many fantastic things within it, it has the Mining Museum and Theatre Royal, it has reasonably good access wit buses and trains. They have the fanastic Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and I would love for them to get a new stadium so they can rmain in the super league. there are many good things in Wakefield if you take the time to find them

Wakefield s located near Leeds. I have been to wakefield numerous amounts of times. I have only been here to sample the nightlife though, so couldt really comment on the surroundings of the town. There are plenty of bars, pubs and clubs to choose from, your spoilt for choice. The atmosphere on a nighttime, especially during the weekend is viberant and lively. I have never had a bad experience in Waefield and the crowds that you see out and about are very friendly.

I live not too far away from Wakefield and have been shopping here a few times. They have all the usual high street stores but also loads of cheaper bargain basement type shops. It is quite an old town and does need some renovating. I have heard that the Yorkshire Sculpture park is supposed to be really nice for a day out - somewhere to take a picnic if it''s nice weather.

Wakefield is close to Leeds and Castleford and just off the M62. It is also great for a night out - there are loads of bars and night clubs and some nice restaurants, especially Indian food - there seems to be curry houses all over the place! There are also loads of fast food places for a kebab on the way home!

For toddlers I would recommend ''Cheeky Monkeys'' it is a large soft play area, very cheap to get in and they have a large maze to climb up. they also have a little road with cars on for the kids to ride and loads of those play houses which my boys love. There is a ball pool and slide aswell

Wakefield is a district in the heart of England, it is home to towns such as Horbury, Ossett, Wrenthorpe, Stanley and Altofts, Normanton, Castleford, Pontefract, Knottingley, Featherstone and a host of smaller settlements that make up the five towns.
Wakefield is a great place to visit and boasts several cultural and leisure facilities including the National Coal Mining Museum for England and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and is birthplace to two popular artists of modern sculpture; Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. A new sculpture gallery is planned for the city''s Waterfront, the Hepworth, to house original works by local sculptor, Barbara Hepworth.

Europe''s largest shopping village, the Junction 32 Outlet Village in Castleford, offers a wide selection of shops. Also at Junction 32 is the new Xscape complex, housing one of the largest indoor real snow ski slopes in Europe. The complex, has a climbing wall, multiplex cinema, bowling alley, shops and restaurants under one roof, attracts visitors from all over the country.

Wakefield City Center is a lively place with plenty of shops and restaurants as well as a great night life!

I like wakefield, if i want a change from the busy streets of leeds i tend to come here, its alot quieter. There are many shops to visit also museums, swimming baths, gyms etc and everything is fairly priced. The people of wakefield seem lovely and friendly too. Wakefield is also known for its nightlife, there are many bars clubs and pubs all of which have a great variety of music. There is good transport lnks such as buses and trains.

Wakefield is just off the A638, its a stones throw away from Leeds city center. Wakefield is quite a sleepy place at times, there are a few pubswhich serve lovely food and cheapish drinks. If you mgo you must go and visit Cathedral of All Saints, its a really lovely example of the history that surrounds Wakefield.
Did you know that it''s exactly the center of the UK its a 2 hour train ride to London and to Edinburgh fom here. It''s 0ne to Manchester. The people here are realy nice and helpfull and if you enjoy shopping there are some good shops but nothing like Leeds! how everLeeds don''t have many cobbled streets that you can mosey on down, so you win some you loose some!! All in all a really good day out with nice sites to see.

Wakefiled makes a great change in my opinion from the hectic mayhem that is seen in Leeds. I come here for a night out, i always have a laugh. Its very much a picturesque place to be with many historical facts and building about the town. There a many pubs, a hadful of bars and one or two clubs for people of all ages to enjoy. There are a couple of museums and a few galleries for those who are into art.
