Kidderminster is a town in the Wyre Forest district of Worcestershire, England. It is located approximately seventeen miles south-west of Birmingham city centreThe town centre area has undergone substantial redevelopment in recent years, with the commercial retail area of ''Weaver''s Wharf'' attracting many visitors and shoppers. ''Slingfield Mill'', a Grade II listed building, has been converted into a retail outlet and incorporated into ''Weaver''s Wharf''.The local commercial radio station is The Wyre, which started broadcasting on 12 September 2005, and broadcasts from studio''s in Kidderminster. It competes alongside Wyvern FM, whose presence is minimal in the town, Sunshine Radio, and BBC Hereford & Worcester.
There are several things which are key parts of the unique make-up of the town, one of these are the huge former British Sugar Corporation silos sited in their now redundant site on the Stourport Road, these silos can be seen from the Malvern Hills, nearly thirty miles away.
There is Co-op and a doctors surgery on Franche Road (A442) in Franche, a Morrisons on Oxford Street in the centre of the town, a Sainsburys on Carpet Trades Way near the river, Tesco and Aldi are in the town centre on either side of New Road.
In Summerfield on the outskirts of Kidderminster is the ROXEL site where solid rocket motors are manufactured. The site has manufactured the motors for the Rapier missile, Seawolf missile, Starstreak and ASRAAM missile systems. Over the years the site has been owned by IMI, Royal Ordnance and British Aerospace but is now part of the Roxel Group, headquartered in Paris and with a sister site outside Bordeaux.
The SEALINE yacht company manufactures boats for the luxury market and is Kidderminster''s second largest single employer
.There are two railway stations in the town, sharing the same approach road. . The main Network Rail station is just called Kidderminster with trains to Birmingham, Worcester and London. The other station is that of the preserved Heritage Railway line, Severn Valley Railway, and their station is called Kidderminster Town. The Severn Valley Railway runs from the town to Bridgnorth.

I go to Kidderminster occasionally when visiting my mother in Droitwich i used to spend a lot of time here years ago it''s home to the Forrest glades swimming pool which has slides and a wave machine it also has the safari park on the edge of it in Bewdley the town centre is very open and has been going under modernisation for years as believe me it really needed it it has all the big namedstores such as tj huges, woolworths, newlook, liddle, miss selfridge years ago kidderminster was famous for it''s carpets they still do produce carpets here just not in the same magnitude as they used to, there''s a couple of rough estates such as Habberly and The Horse fair so i would avoid living there if you were looking to move to the area and one there poignant memory of kidderminster is the smell of sugar beat that hits you when your traveling there on the train thats also with in walking distance of the town centre

Kidderminster has changed over the years. Its well known for its carpet industry. Its easy to get to kiddy and its great for shopping as we have to shopping retail parks. The one has recently been put in and has the brand names like next, TK MAXX, sports world, jjb and many many more. Kiddy isn''t allways a busy place and there is plenty of car-park spaces. Its a good day out for the family as we have a range of activities to do like the cinema, the glades, swimming and plenty of parks. There are plenty of schools around the area and loads more houses are being built at the moment. Kiddy is having a make-over and is being made better than ever. We have our own cathedral and is a great place to look around and we have our town hall which is normally open.

At one time I nearly rented a property in Kidderminster. It has really grown up since then. It has all the shops and places of interest you need in a location and it is commuter friendly to say the least. Within half an hour you can be well on your way to anywhere in Britain or anywhere in the world. The one thing that lets it down right now is the traffic. At your peak times it has to be avoided. My friend lives just down the A456 and his partner owns property here. She purchased the property 10 years ago and has made a real tidy profit out of it.
I spent a morning in town before everything opened up. It gave me a good idea of what was around. More than enough of the chain stores around to keep you about. Not flashy but Birmingham is not far away for that.
If you fancy more of the country, you are on the right way to Malvern. I like places where you can drive 5 minutes and be out in the country. This is one of those locations.

It is a nice town to visit, as it isn''''t generally busy. However, at the time being there are so many roadworks around that it is becoming harder and harder to get about, without being caught in the traffic. There are a few schools round the area and lots of houses being built at the moment!
i live in kidderminster and there are quite few places to go to and things to do including shopping we have quite few gud shops

Kidderminster, formerly known for it''s budding carpet industry has really changed over the years. It is completely different to what it was 10 years ago as it is going through modernization! There are now three main shopping areas; Weavers Wharf, Crossley Retail Park and the actual high street. There are a good selections of shops from a new morissons being opened on the 29th September to all your electrical needs at Maplins.
