Winchester is such a beautiful city and I really loved living here. It has a lovely atmosphere, maybe because of the university students. The parking in Winchester is terrible, and I would definately recommend coming here by train to visit, as it can be impossible to find a parking space. The city houses a lot of history espcially within the cathedrale, which you have to pay to visit. The student population spread out all over the city centre, but they are a friendly crowd and add something to the city. There is not a great number of shops, but there are all the basics and some smaller independent shops too, which are great to look around and explore. Winchester is also a great place to visit for a night out and I would recommend visiting here.

winchester is a lovely place in hampshire the main centre piece of Winchester, its cathedral, attracts thosends of tourists each year. Be aware tourist make up a big chunk of Winchesters constantly changing population. Shopping is limited in Winchester. If you want to shop, go to Southampton, which is much better. Winchester does not feature a Topshop/man, H&M, Primark or Waitrose. They do have a Game, River Island and Next, but thats really the main extent of shopping. Schools here are some of the best in the country. However, the mentality of some of the locals, mainly the upper class, is snobbish and shuns down apon others. Some people here are not the nicest. highly recomendable to live or just to visit.

Winchester is extremely beautiful and is one of Britain''s historic towns. Winchester has a famous cathedral which is definitely worth visiting not least as it is the longest Cathedral in Europe. Winchester is surrounded by plenty of other historic sites such as Wolvesey castle and Winchester Castle. Not being too far away from London makes this a great place to visit for a day out or over a weekend and is easy to get to by road or rail. Winchester is another town which gives a fascinating insight into life in England many years ago and it is amazing that so many historic structures still remain and are in great condition today.

Winchester is a nice quiet place whch has a lot of history about it. It used to be the capital city of England a few hundred years ago. The cathedral holds a lot of history. The river Itchen flows through the centre of the city and is a nice to sit beside in the summers sun. The shopping high street is old and tudor. There are overhanging buldings which shadow the high street. There are even some thatched roofs. All of the buildings hold the regular high street stores. Peter symmonds is the College in Winchester it has a lot of history behind it and it is a nationally known college. It also has good transport links including the train station near the centre of town, the southampton airport is just down the road and also there is a bus route which interlinks winchester with basingstoke and southampton.

Winchester is a really lovely and historic city.. it is very quiet and a lovely place to visit if you don''t want to delve into the hustle and bustle of the nearest city - southampton! Winchester is a very middle class town, the houses are quite expensive, but they are set in such lovely scenery - close to the rural lanscape of the hills and countryside nearby. There is a great selection of quality restaurants, which is excellent for such a small town. As for shopping.. not the best, but it is alot quieter than the main city southampton.. and it is a great place to visit little boutiques etc. As for nightlife.. there is a small selection of bars.. but no real outrageous clubs!!!

Winchester is a lovely place to buy a house because there''s low crime rates and there''s a few police to get rid of that crime. Everywhere is nice and there some huge houses about. There are quite a lot of shops in Winchester but you shouldn''t really aim to go on a shopping spree there, I think you''d better go to Southampton for something like that. There are lots of good schools in winchester and the cinema is a nice touch but it doesn''t show that many films. The night life is alright but there aren''t that many nightclubs. I recommend Winchester for small families that are looking for a nice, calm place to live. Also there is a lovely cathedral and great historical buildings all throughout Winchester. I give Winchester a 9/10 rating because it has some downsides but it''s not nice to mention them...

Winchester is a really great city to live in, with loads of historic ventures such as the king Arther and the round table and loads more around maybe because it used to be the county''s treasury. Winchester attracts annual tourist around the country to '' the hat fair '' which is a street acts festival , and it''s great! My personal favorite is maybe the oldest act going to the hat fair- their called Haggis and Charley, and their finale is where they are on huge six foot unicycles juggling six fire sticks. It''s well worth going just because of them. Anyway Winchester besides being very historic, the shopping is OK, and the new library is huge and great! Before it got extended they had to remove historic remains ! so there''s no escape of it''s history, anyway the library has a stage, free internet, a king Alfred exhibition, really good DVD renting for about a week for free! Plus they have some good sofas and chairs to reed in peace, and a shop to buy some of the books, and merchandise leading off the King Alfred exhibition. Oh yeah and the BOOKS!- amazing. Winchester is a city worth going to, which proves because Hampshire used to be the most desired place to live in in England, and Winchester is the best city in Hampshire so it proves that errrr............... WINCHESTER ROCKS
