Newark Is situated about 30 mins from Nottingham heading out towards Belper. There are many different ways of getting there but I used public transport. I used the number 90 Bus from nottingham city centre provided by NCT. It took about 45 minuted to reach Newark town centre and only cost five pounds return.
Newark is a very old town which is right next to the river Trent., Newark is a beautiful town full of history and wonder. The ruins of Newark Castle have had a huge influence on the unique character of the town. Though the current remains were built in the early 12th century, there has been a castle on the site since 1068.

Newarkks market place has a very old town Town Hall which towers over it. The town has become famous for its six annual antiques fairs, held at Newark County Showground, and thousands of antique hunters from across the world descend on the fairrs 4,000 stalls in search of a bargain.

Apart from the museums and small parks there isn''t alot to do in Newark for a family. The pubs are old and family run and are a pleasure ti visit. Not much of a night life but Nottingham is not too far away for a good old knees up.

Ive been too newark a couple of times to visit my brother in law and it seems a fairly small town. Driving round there are allthe amineties you need, they have good shops like boots, mothercare, whsmiths etc.. and there are a couple of outlets just a few minutes drive away. There is a macdonalds and kfc quite near and a bowling alley aswell. I think its a nice town with everything you need! definatly worth a visit as your driving through.

Newark is a small market town situated between Lincoln and Grantham on the A1. It hosts regular markets that sell a wide variety of products, partiulary your fruit & veg. The shops are street side and they have a good selection considering its small size, they even have Next and Mothercare! There are a couple of retail parks on the outskirts that are no more than a five minute drive from the centre of town. Good selection of pubs and restaurants, some along the river trent that runs alongside Newark. Newark castle is worth a look whilst your there, it''s more of a ruin now but it is still amazing to think that the little town of Newark actually has a castle!

Newark is a great shopping market town in Nottinghamshire. Built beside the river trent as you cross the bridge to enter the town you will see the castle on your right and if you turn left or right at the roundabout you will end up at either the Morrisons car park (left) or the pay and display near the bus station (right) from which you can walk into the centre of town. The riverside by the castle is well looked after and a great spot for a picnic. The town centre has a market square with loads of the usual shops you would need including branches for all the major bands. Markets are held frequently and the square itself has recently been repaved making it a very pleasant place to shop. There is a small cinema (Reel cinema), a bowling alley, and a number of supermarkets. Parking is easy to find and centrally located. Overall, a very nice alternative to shopping in Mansfield. 8/10

Newark is a medium sized town located in nottinghamshire along the A1 and A46. It is located on the river trent with a historic castle located next to it. This castle is in ruins but some of the walls still remain and the grounds of the castle have been turned into a nice park area. There is also another park on the other side of the river from the castle which has a large play area and is quite scenic. The riverside is the nicest part of the town. The centre of the town has a market square as a focal point with a lot of shops located around this area including a WH smith, thorntons, starbucks and a natwest. The square hosts frequent markets where people can get fresh fruit and vegetables amoungst other things. When the stalls are taken away the square looks very pleasant. The nightlife in the town is ok but nothing great there is one main club called time which has is fair size but when i have been there I havent really enjoyed it. There is another newly built bar/club called the atrium which is reasonable but sometimes there can be a queue to get in. On the whole the bars around town arent that special and not very lively. For things to do in the town, there is a bowling alley next to the atrium which is a fair size and a newly built small cinema. The supermarkets in the town include a waitrose, aldi, morrisons and sainsburys (balderton). Car parking in town is not normally a problem however traffic into and around town can be very bad at busy times. Another negative about the town is the lack of friendliness of some people. On the whole, I would say newark is a reasonably good town, with the nice parts being along the river, near the castle and the market square but other parts of town are not that nice.
