I have friends that live in Radcliffe so I have been here and stayed many many times. We usually drive there but it is easily reachable by rail to Radcliffe stn. It is the most delightful little village on the outskirts of Nottingham, and is named after the red cliffs that run along the river Trent. There are lots of modern houses mixing in with the older style. The village centre has an old fashioned baker and a good shopping area plus a library, medical centre and a few antique/bric a brac shops to browse in. it is also a very pretty place. Radcliffe itself is surrounded by green countryside and of course the river Trent, so there are some lovely walks all around the countryside. The village itself is only a short drive to Nottingham itself so when you need the big city lights (and nightlife!) you are not too far away. The centre of Radcliffe has Grange Hall a one level building with rooms available for private functions and the local AmDram put on their plays in there. The parish graveyard is worth a walk around, with many gravestones dated in the 17000s and there are some great cliff walks via the Rockley Memorial Park. I love the village, it is a beautiful place and with Nottingham so close you can still get a lot of retail therapy in when needed!
