i went to retford in april this year with my daughter and her nursery. we went to sundown adventure land. sundown adventure land is an amazing theme park , its very hard to describe but its amazing, theres a large park area, noahs ark, pet shop. gift shop, tractor ride, train ride, theres all sorts that the kids love, theres also a cafe for hot meals and refreshemnts, which was a little on the deer side. but the food was nice,
retford itself is a very nice place.i would love to live there. the residents are so nice. the atmospheres always good.

I visited Retford a Month ago and I instantly fell in love with this lovely town. Only 20 Miles away from Nottingham it is a great day out for anyone from single people to Families. The town is surrounded by many parks and canals and rivers which accentuate the town beautifully. There is plenty for a family to do regardless of the weather from walking parks and along canals to indoor play areas and shopping. The shops are much better than any other town I''ve been to, clean tidy and friendly staff.
With plenty of schools and family places to visit it is a great place to raise a family and only one visit would make you want to move there as I''ve considered.
There was a continental Market when we visited and it was great selling everything from fudge to German Sausages.
If you ever anted to move away from it all and settle down in a quiet beautiful town then this is the place to go. Couldn''t praise it enough

A small market town in Nottinghamshire, Retford has many pleasant monument and has a picturesque market square with an ornate town hall. Besides some of these historic buildings, Retford is a fairly run-of-the-mill small market town. The central high street running through this town has, dotted between the usual high street chain shops you can find everywhere, several independent stores including an excellent record shop and several traditional butchers. There are also a number of decent pubs here worth visiting on a night out. and the regular market is the best in the area. One thing I disliked about this place when I visited were all of the rather miserable looking people plodding around the place. Not a bad little town with a great shopping high street but the atmosphere was slightly oppressive on the dark, wet day I visited on.

My sister lives in Retford and I have just spent the weekend there. Me and my husband are considering moving there so went to check it out. All I can say is that it made our decision to move, a lot easier! It is just so nice. The walk from my sisters house to main Retford center consisted of a bridge, a canal, a river, a field, another river another bridge and then another river!!! Its so beautiful and peaceful. The town center is really nice, despite it being quite a small town on the outskirts of Nottinghamshire, there are some good shops there. They have a large Asda and Morrisons, some good clothes shops, Home Bargains a lot of nice pubs and cafes and much more.
There is a war memorial in the market center as well as a beautiful old church which you can walk around and have a look at. The stain glass windows inside are amazing.

Everyone there seemed so polite and friendly and there were no hooded gangs hanging around anywhere!! That''s a novelty when you are from Nottingham!! The only negative thing I could say at all about Retford is that because of the amount of rivers there, the flood risk is quite high, a number of places I visited this weekend were apparently under water last year with the floods! Other than that, its a beautiful place with a good shopping center and I hope to be living there this time next year!

I have been here before on a day out with my family, we went to sundown adventureland its in rampton, retoford and we had such a great time. When we got of the train the trainstation didnt look much , my personal opinion a little bit shabby, we aslo could not get a bus to sundown adventure land so had to hop in a local taxi out side the train station! The taxi man was really nice and knew exactly where he was taking us too. It was 5miles from the trainstation and the taxi only cost 6, soo cheap. He also helped us get the puschair out of the boot and out it up for us.

Sundown adventure land is amazing, full of beautifull grassy areas where you can eat and have a picnic and there is also a couple of cafes too with play areas attatched for the kids to play in while you can have a nice drink :). My little girl loved captain sandys play cove. There a great boat ride and priates and lots of sand too play in.
Theres also a great market with singing pigs and talking potatoes lol, i even think its fun :).
Rhere is a great tractor ride that goes all the way around the farm yard showing all the animals, you can also walk round too see all the animals too. Theres also mother hubbards kitchen that cooks real fudge, you must try it :)
sundown is open 10am till 5pm 7days a week and entry is 8.50 x
