I live really close to Penistone,well about a 10 minute drive away.I think it is a lovely clean and tidy place.People there are really nice,friendly and helpful.We once went to a nice quiet friendly pub in Penistone and it was lovely.The pub was also very clean and tidy.The staff were all really nice and friendly.We arrived at the pub early on in the evening and didnt see any people about on the streets.Also once we left the pub late at night,we didnt see many people around.This shows me what a quiet place Penistone must be.

I used to live in nearby Silkstone Common, a lovely village close to Penistone. My elder brother went to the Penistone Grammar school but we moved away just before I was set to go there. I have mixed memories about the place as I remember it was a small market town but the school and many of the buildings seemed run down when I visited in 1999. However, this has no doubt changed since then (at least I hope so). I also remember the old cinema which we went to and is still running today. Reminds me of the old town which I grew up and the charm of yorkshire despite to lack of money input into the area... but I''''ll stop now before I start sounding like one of the Four Yorkshiremen in the Monty Python sketch ;).
