Sheffield has a large city centre with many things to see in it - including the Winter Gardens, it''''s many theatres and concert venues, and is the host of the World Snooker Championships every year at the Crucible. There''''s all the shops you''''d expect from a city centre, both big chains and local traders, as well as a large indoor market, and has regular buses, trains and trams to Meadowhall. Sports fans can enjoy football watching Sheffield United, Wednesday and now Rotherham, who play at Don Valley. There''''s also ice hockey, rugby league and basketball. The people that live in sheffield are really nice and polite to you and will give you the directions for you to find your way round sheffield if you are new to goin there and want to go and explore that place and find out m ore information about the places

I have lived in Sheffield all my life and i absolutley love living in Sheffield. There is loads to do and loads of places to have alot of fun.On a weekend night i tend to have alot of fun going out drinking in and around the town centre. When going out drinking in and around the town centre it is always really lively, which is good for people like me who live in the more quiet areas of Sheffield. There is meadowhall shopping centre, which has loads of shops and a very large carpark. In Sheffield is some very run down area''s,but also some lovely quiet area''s.The general cost of living is quite low here in Sheffield, which is ideal when you live or visit Sheffield.Sheffield is also very student friendly.

Shefield is a large town, there is much to do and see in this town. I think sheffield is most popular for its meadow hall shopping centre, which is famous across the globe. There are many famous high street stores here and many people could easily spend there day shopping here. Apart from this there are many meauseams and parks for familys to visit. The nightlife is also very livley in sheffield. In my opinion though sheffield needs redeveloping, many parts of the town are dull and boring.

Sheffield is a great up and coming city. Its lively student population means its constantly buzzing and makes the night life extremely exciting. With well known clubs such as Embrace and Leadmill, you never have a dull night in the city. Down Cavendish road, there are plenty of bars and pubs to start the night off in but they do have a strict dress code in some places especially for the guys. Sheffield town centre has a great shopping experience with loads of high street brands available at your doorstep and if thats not enough the well known shopping centre Meadowhall is only a 15minute drive out of the centre. The transport system through the town is very reliable, especially with the modern tram system running throughout the city and directly to Meadowhall itself. Sheffield is also home to the two rival universities, university of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam which both have a great reputation and are a popular choice with up and coming students.

Sheffield is fast becoming a cosmopolitan city. We stayed at the St Paul''s Hotel near the university which was lovely. We had a choice of restaurants on our doorstep and just a short walk into the centre.
There are all the high street stores in Sheffield including a hugh Primark and TJ Hughes which are great for bargains.
There are some great bars and restaurants on West Street including a couple of live music bars which are definately worth a visit, most bars have offers on for cheap alcohol, there are also several fast food places and loads of taxi ranks.
Sheffield is a short drive away from the Peak District which also has loads to offer.
As with all big cities the one way systems are a nightmare and parking can be expensive, especially if you want to park overnight

Sheffield has changed a great deal in recent years with an injection of modern architecture and green spaces into this historically industrial city. The regeneration of the Peace gardens, the creation of the Winter botanical gardens and opening of major art and cultural museums have rejuvenated the city centre making Sheffield the attractive modern city it is today. There is plenty to do in Sheffield with fantastic shopping areas including the Meadow hall shopping centre on the outskirts of the city, numerous pubs and nightclubs as well as countless places to eat. The pubic transport system is also brilliant with an excellent tram system and bus links. When I was young, I remember Sheffield as a harsh, mucky city packed with people and devoid of any colour but things have certainly changed and set to get even better in years to come with the remodelling of Sheaf Square.

sheffield is a brilliant city to live in. it has a busy student life due to the 2 two universities that are in the city. the nightlife is amazing and has a wide range of pubs/ nightclubs for everyones taste. there are to main areas to go shopping, the first is the fargate and the second is the moor. it also has the largest shopping centre called meadowhall. there are many places of historical nature for visitors to experience. It also is home to sheffields own dry ski slope. There are 2 major sports centres, ponds forge and hillsborough leisure centre. It is also home to 2 football teams on different sides of the city. it has a big bus and train station, as well as a tram and many cinemas. It also is home to don valley stadium which holds many sporting events and gigs and is also home to hallam arena which like the city hall holds many gigs. Sheffield also has a lyceum and a crucible which is great for any theatre fans, also the snooker champanship is held there. Overall a generally busy city, this does has it bad faults as the traffic is horrendous and the council is forever doing some sort of improvements.

I''ve come to Sheffield for a year as part of my uni course. It''s a busy city, but not overwhelming. Right in the peak district with gorgeous scenery and very good if you''re a fan of walking or climbing. There are a lot of hills though so be prepared for climbing up steep roads, I''m still not used to it after a couple of months!
The city itself has some great attractions, such as the Cathedral, Carling academy, Sheffield arena, Lyceum theatre and some lovely gardens. There are also some great shops. although if you travel a bit out there is a massive shopping centre called Meadowhall which has loads of shops etc. under one roof.
Transport is great, there are regular buses, trains and trams. I got confused by the trams at first! Be careful when it is wet, as the tram lines do get slippery.
There are two universities, and great nightlife to go with them. The city centre has bars for all tastes, with all the main ones being down West Street, and right next to each other so you will not have too far to walk after a few too many drinks!
And as an extra bit of random info, the Full Monty was filmed here and you can actually see some of the places from in the film!
